iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
I think the best tool to use for spoofing is jungle flasher. Like in your case, you simply load your benq firmware as the source, load the samsung ixtreme firmware as your target, click spoof source to target and save the CFW.bin and your ready to flash.

I would use iPrep to dump the samsung drive and create the custom firmware, then when in windows use firmwaretoolbox to SPOOF the samsung custom firmware to reprot as a Benq drive then inject the key from your benq firmware into the samsung custom firmware.
This way the custom samsung firmware will make the samsung drive tell the console that its a benq drive, if you dpnt SPOOF the firmware then it wont work.

If you follow what I said about jungle flasher, it will spoof the firmware perfectly. Not saying that firmware toolbox won't work, it's just that jungle is perfect for spoofing.

My PC doesn't like JF. Maybe Firmware toolbox would be better in my case. I guess I could use JF to make the firmware and then use whatever to flash it, right?
Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
yes get a dump of your orig drive
then use jungle flasher to spoof that key and info into the hack firmware you are going to use
then flash it in how ever it will work for you.

Thanks guys. To this point, none of he Windows based apps have worked because my PC wants to lock up when the DVD drive is connected while it is running. If I boot with it connected, the driver doesn't start. I've tried removing the driver also where it leaves the exclamation point. My PC isn't exactly new. It's got an AMD Tbird 1.44 Ghz processor if that's any indication
Supposing I decided to just buy a Benq drive because it would give me two working consoles when I fix my RROD console (I will fix it damnit!), where's the best/cheapest place to get a new or barely used one? I found some on Ebay but some of them come all the way from China and I imagine they charge hella bucks in duties and taxes and take two to three weeks to get delivered.

Yes, I'm using the VIA card. The ONLY drivers that worked for me were version 530c. They can be found at VIA Arena, you just have to use the "old drivers" link.are you using a via sata card?
So, let me try to get this as a step by step because sometimes the word spoof confuses me. I know what it means and I understand what its goal is.
Now, I have the Benq firmware. I have the key, of course. So, step one would be to get the TS firmware file? Then, spoof it as a Benq? OR should I take the TS firmware and insert/convert it to the custom firmware first and then spoof it as a Benq? The final step is to insert the key from my Benq (original drive/firmware) into the spoofed/custom firmware and flash it to the TS drive, correct? So, I think I've got the first and last step down, I just don't know which to do first in the middle, spoof the TS as a Benq? Create custom TS firmware and spoof it as a Benq?
Thanks again,
Jeff

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
Well, I got no replies but here's what ended up working for me.
I used iPrep/DOSFlash to get the firmware from the Benq and from the TS drive.
I then took the key from the Benq and added it to the TS firmware file and flashed it to the TS drive.
Next, I dumped the firmware from the TS and spoofed it as a Benq.
I flashed that to the TS drive.
Then, I dumped the spoofed TS firmware from the drive and updated it to the iX 1.5 and flashed it back to the TS drive.
The drive's working properly so I assUme I don't have to worry about getting flagged for having a spoofed drive OR the hacked firmware, right?
Thanks again,
Jeff
