Possible Jungleflasher workaround
Re: Possible Jungleflasher workaround
Thats great Cyantific. Were you previously experiencing the freeze with jungleflasher when hitting lite-on erase?
And this goes for anyone else that posts their results. We need to know if you were experiencing the freezing and if this worked or not.
Thanks!!

Yes. The VIA drivers when used with JF were freezing the PC when trying to flash Lite-Ons only. BenQ and Samsung drives always worked fine in windows.sadalius wrote:Thats great Cyantific. Were you previously experiencing the freeze with jungleflasher when hitting lite-on erase?

Success, i can confirm that after following the instructions to rename the .sys file i have upgraded 2 Lite-on drives with jungle flasher and with no problems at all.
Not only did it help with flashing it also helped recover a lite-on that refused to display the FF72 message, after renaming the file the FF72 appeared first go and let me recover the drive.
Fantastic, thank you very much.

Re: Possible Jungleflasher workaround
I do all my flashing with iprep simply because I prefer the stability of a dos enviroment but this works a treat for the hit drives
I had major problems with the hit just hanging whilst attempting the dump! until I de-coupled the drivers & ran it soley thru portIO

Things are going really well
Re: Possible Jungleflasher workaround
I tried this today and then used jungleflasher 1.51 to upgrade a benQ from 1.4 to 1.51.
The process took seconds with no problems at all
I have not used JF to do a benq before (only liteons and it locked up at the liteon erase point)
I should be due to upgrade a few Liteon drives soon when my friends bring them over and I will post here.

Re: Possible Jungleflasher workaround
Still no problems with jungle flasher since renaming the file from .sys to .bak have done numerous lite-on drives, and restored hitachi's to stock then up to 1.51, if ur having any problems follow the instructions above.

Re: Possible Jungleflasher workaround
Success. 4 Liteons done no errors. The only problem i had was it wouldn't autoinstall the portio32 so i had to do it manually (no biggie). The older jungleflasher used to freeze but i can't comment on the issue with this version as i didn't want to chance it with the Viamraid installed. Nice.
Re: Possible Jungleflasher workaround
Excellent!!!
Done 2 Liteons today with no problems at all.
I could never complete the flash with JF before because the computer always locked up at the liteon erase point.
So this workaround makes a BIG difference for me.
Well done guys.
By the way I use
CK3pro with probe
Via 6421
Windows Xp pro SP3

Re: Possible Jungleflasher workaround
I had the drivers installed and had flashed several drives (benq, samsung, hitachi) until the Lite-On. Freezes every time with Lite-On just after you erase and then try to write and I have to drop to dos to fix. Tried this fix of uninstalling the drivers. JF runs like a can of molasses just out of the fridge until the computer freezes completely. Now I reinstalled the drivers and just write the Lite-On's in Dos. New card coming so maybe it's just with certain cards although everyone I know with the via card that I have; has the same problem.
One of the developers of JF suggested disabling the floppy controller and also to try intalling uniata drivers. None of this worked for me. Your mileage may vary.
FYI my card is this one.. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7598" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The one I have ordered is this one.. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/s ... r.54025156" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Notice no USB ports on the second one.. who knows.
