Just about to flash Lite-on.....

Post by Riax »

Hi People

Iv finally got my CK3 and probe and about to disembark to mutilate my 360, since there is a risk of turning it into a doorstop am going to write a guide of what am going to-do along with the hardware/software am using, call me paranoid but its better then a pet brick, so point out if anything is wrong even a minor detail

Ill like to say to other people reading who are planning to flash there lite-on that DO NOT USE THIS AS A GUIDE since information maybe incorrect:

Hardware:

Motherboard:

Manufacture: ASUSTek Computer INC

Model M2N4-SLI

Chipset: NVIDIA nForce4

Southbridge: NVIDIA nForce4 MCP

Software:

Windows XP
JungleFlasher.0.1.51.Beta (Thanks to JF Team)
Lite-on_iXtreme_v1.51-FINAL (Many thanks)

Victim:

Lite-on DG-16D2S

Steps:

1: Remove the Drive, open and hook-up to the ck3 (Powered by 360?) with av cable in iv head it auto shutdowns without it in

2: Turn on the drive eject tray, turn off, close halfway, turn on

3: Boot JungleFlasher go DVDkey32, select port, until drive is detected

4: Bridge the R707 with wire/probe/spear check light for confirmed connection

5: Hit Get Key and hold spear in place during the process, and save dump

6: Repeat several times and compare keys till happy ^^

7: Open the FirmwareTool 32 Tab, Click ‘Open Target firmware’ and select the firmware(In this case Lite-on_iXtreme_v1.51-FINAL)

8: Now inject your key into the hacked firmware by hitting the ‘Spoof source to target’

9: Click ‘Save to file’ and store the keyed firmware for safe keeping

10: (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DUMPED YOUR KEY B4 MOVING ON OR YOU WILL IRREPARABLY DAMAGE YOUR 360!)

11: Go to the MTK Flash 32 Tab and hit ‘Lite-On Erase’ hit ok to the first window, a 2nd will pop-up and you should prepare to swiftly turn your drive off and on

12: Hit ok on the final window and turn your drive off and on, you will get a 72 message confirming successful wipe

13: Now hit ‘Write’ to copy the new firmware to the drive, Once successful reassemble your 360

Extra:
If your 360 lunch’s to menu fine but will not run your back-up try a original game, if its boots then it’s most likely a bad back-up

Questions:

How can I tell witch way around to plug the power in? iv heard people are damaging things

Is my SATA going to be fine? Or will I need a VIA

Can anyone link a guide for properly hooking up the ck3 so I don’t damage anything

Thanks for looking over, am pretty wasted rite now so there’s prob a phat load of typos

No the CK3 will power on the dvd drive.

2: Turn on the drive eject tray, turn off, close halfway, turn on

Yes

4: Bridge the R707 with wire/probe/spear check light for confirmed connection

There is no bridging if you are using a probe/spear. You simply point the device you're using into the VIA hole next to the R707 points.

7: Open the FirmwareTool 32 Tab, Click ‘Open Target firmware’ and select the firmware(In this case Lite-on_iXtreme_v1.51-FINAL)

With the newest JF you will be presented an option once you dump the key to have it auto-spoof the key into 1.51 firmware which is pretty nice.

By using the method sadalius posted about renaming your vmaraid file and using Port IO32, I no longer have an issue with when turning the drive on and off or how quickly you do it. I do know however the standard method does require a swift powering off/on.

Although it used to be unspecified, you can choose the Outro button after a successful flash to return the drive to normal status (non-vendor mode).

Questions:

How can I tell witch way around to plug the power in? iv heard people are damaging things

There are two bumpers on top of the correct side of the power cable. They're small raised surfaces you can see and feel.

Is my SATA going to be fine? Or will I need a VIA

Just have to try your SATA but most work I believe.

Follow cyantifics advice and your good to go.

As cyantific said make sure the raised splines line up with the grooves:

there is a small switch that you need to click
it will turn the modeB off(red modeB)
then the light will be blue
and you will be good to go.

Maybe try it with an r232 cable to see if you have a problem with your usb ports?

I'm not sure that would make a difference dale.
The drive is detected over sata.

Before you go buy a 6421 card, try using your OnBoard with Port I/O
If that doesn't work try it with Windows drivers
If that doesn't work try it with with Nvidia drivers.
If it doesn't detect the drive in any of those circumstances you'll need to get the card.

BTW, when not using Port I/O you'll have to tick Win API in Jungleflasher, then click Refresh List
After 10-15 sec your drive should hopefully be detected.

Usb ports work fine, XP SP2+ comes with Usb drivers don’t have a r232 on me atm but windows picks up the CK3 anyway (Used CK3 driver for install) ;)

If that doesn't work try it with Windows drivers:
Ill give this a blast

If that doesn't work try it with Nvidia drivers:
Nope tryed

Ill check that over

Btw just so people don’t get mixed up jungle flasher shows my SATA ports but not the drive connected (It’s powered on/tray half open)

If all else fails ill grab a via 6421 card from Amazon or somewhere. 8-)

Hi guys 8-)

Iv managed to get my via card and now the drive is being detected perfectly iv already dumped and saved the key 3 times each with 6 matchers now I just wanted to ask a questions before the big wipe.

Iv heard people are having problems with freezing when wiping there lite-on, is there anyway to avoid this happing?

Iv read somewhere ages ago that uninstalling the VIA driver b4 the wipe will stop this is it true or was I just daydreaming? :?
