Jungle flasher 1.5.5 problem??

Post by RaDsTaR »

Having a big problem with this, i'm trying to upgrade an Hitachi 47 which has 1.4 on.
I watched the video tut, but wanted to make sure i'm doing everything ok ?

Ok i'm running vista (32) i have on board sata on via VT8237 raid controller and a via VT6421 raid sata card.
I followed the tut and used my on board sata, i managed to dump the the old fw and key after the third attempt, but can't for the life of me restore the stock fw ?
I have also tried to use the VT6421 sata card, but couldn't even dump the fw this way?
I have put the both stock & ix1.5.1 fw in the firmware folder inside the dir of JF as stated, the problem arises when i send mode B!
So i need to ask... Do i have to have the mode B switch on or off ?
I have tried to test the drive is in mode B by clicking twice as it says and closing twice just to confirm, but it only takes one click?? why does this happen when it actually states it is in mode B ??
I can't seem to restore the stock fw and falsh it! is it a mode B problem or something else??
Here is a run down of what has happened, just hope some 1 can clarify the problem for me...

Re: Jungle flasher mode b problem??

Post by RaDsTaR »

Still need some confirmation on this... just an update, went back to JF 1.51 and mode B worked first time.
The only thing is, after i clicked restore the program wasn't responding! So after nervously waiting about 30 secs :o it said the same thing, "execute failed" !
My questions to any 1 that can answer them Are... As the mode select and ram poke options have been disabled in 1.55, which is the better transfer method classic or ram upload??
Mode select is an option on 1.5.1 so is this best??
Also in 1.55 is it still necessary to turn off your drive when enabling mode B??
Last, but by no means least... can we, or do we need to use the Mode B switch on the ck3 in this method, as surely this is what it is meant for???
Hoping for a response... :D

man
ive not messed with the new jungle v1.55 yet
but
i do know you will not use the modeB on the kit
the light on the kit will be "blue" not red.
jungle flasher will send the modeb command itself.

Thanx for the reply cofree.
Ok so the mode b light needs to stay blue then? surely that's on, as red if off? correct? or am i missing something? can you confirm this for me please.
I have had it working ONCE and that was in 1.51 when i dumped the key and cfw.
But just cant seem to restore the stock fw so i can flash?
I was going to try fw toolbox 4.8 and upgrading with 1.5.1 that way, is it possible??
I guess i need to restore the stock fw as well through this?? I have used this b4 but not for a while now, will you be doing a video on this to upgrade to the 1.5.1 from 1.4 etc... I think it would help out the Hitachi owners...
Well hope you can let me know about this jf 1.55 issue when your not that busy, as i know you are.
Thanx dude... :D

To know if your in mode b or not, press eject, if you have to press twice before the drive opens your in mode b. Once and you are not.

To restore to original, you can use iPrep, just make your usb bootable with iprep etc, then in the backups folder, make a folder named 1234567 then inside that one another folder named 12345 then inside that folder put your original fw.

Then restart your computer, and boot with the usb drive. Now do fhitachi 1234567 12345 (I cannot remember the hit flashing command, but its either fhitachi or fhit or something it will say in dos what the command is)

On the connectivity kit, red light- mode, b blue light=not mode b. When using jungleflasher, you want the connectivity kit light to be blue so you can use jungle to achieve mode b. Since your using a VIA, have you tried disabling the viamraid.sys file in the windows\system32\drivers folder? I have a thread posted up about that very thing.

Wow! i didn't know you could use iprep for hitachis are you sure this will work?? have you tried it?

@sadalius
Thank for clarifying that for me, to be honest i thought it was the other way round.
I did delete the viamraid.sys file in the windows\system32\drivers folder and as my primary hdd is a sata it just killed my pc, so i had to restore using the windows disc!! I didn't know you could just disable it, i will view that thread, thanx for that info.
Very intrigued to try the iprep way though, sounds interesting if you know the proper dos command for it please let me know.
Thanx again guys, i will keep you posted as to how i get on.
Regards... :D
