hi people, hope all's going well for you.
Here is the situation. I sent to M$ an old console (OCt. 2006) that got the RRD for repair. I never opened this console before so I was pretty sure the console had a HIT or Sammy. The s/n of this console is 1234
I received the repaired box a couple of days ago. I took it apart and to my surprise the console has the same 1234 s/n but the darn thing came with a brand new lite-on drive inside. Obviously I was not expecting a lite-on drive because the rest of the hardware is still the old school motherboard with small heatsinks and no HDMI port, and the lite ons did not appear until last year. I'm really puzzled. I want to flash it, but I'm afraid that this drive was spoofed and I don't wanna end up bricking the drive.
So my questions are:
1. do you think M$ spoofed this lite-on drive onto the motherboard?
2. if i want to flash this drive, are there any additional steps I need to take to flash it, or can i just flash it as normal with iPrep 8.8 (dump and flash)?
Thanx for any help.
Is this DVD drive spoofed?
Re: Is this DVD drive spoofed?
i say go ahead and do the dump, you should know whats what once you do that. . . if it all looks clear then flash.
