Thats an alternative but honestly why don't you just purchase the card and flash the drive? It'll save you in the long run and it's cheap enough. I know other forums may have been saying that you could use your onboard sata but it's not really worth bricking your drive if you erase it by mistake without dumping it properly due to the wrong chipset. Why don't you try and sell one of the games and put the cash towards the card?

Vista no offence lad but i've got a 14 year old son and i wouldn't trust him to put the kettle on never mind take apart a 360 and start flashing it. Your best bet is getting it flashed for you off one of the guys on here as they know what they're doing and they are exceptionally reasonable. If you sell yours you'll lose quite a bit of money on the deal and then you'll have to take into account how much a preflashed one is going to cost you.

man you need to keep in mind that flashing is by far the easiest way to mod your console.
The idea of putting in a mod chip is crazy.The soldering that has to happen is some of the smallest that can be done by hand.

if you are now thinking about getting a pre-modded console just get one that has been flashed.
That way in the future you will be able to update it your self.

about the sata card.
you are right about other chipsets working but i have covered that with you.

there are some that have got the programs to work with other chipsets but it is rare and they have a lot of computer knowledge to help them.

you need to keep in mind that this site has some of the most knowledgeable people on console modding anywhere.

we try to help all we can.and we can a lot.

you have started a project that will have you learn a lot of stuf
1st about computers
2nd about modding a 360 dvd drive.
3rd how to make your own backup games.

there is no fast way (short of someone flashing it for you)
even then it will take time and money learn how to back up a game.

the first question is this .
do you understand the RISK involved in what you are trying to do.Do your parents know and approve of you doing this.
There is a big chance of bricking your console.once you get into it.
I my self just burned up a console.Yes it can and will happen to anyone.

If you do get it flashed there is always a chance of it getting banned from live do you understand that.

if you understand all that (and your parents also) then we will continue down this path.

we will start at the 1st step which is your " computer and learning it."
