Lite-on Recovery problem

Post by staningrimsby »

I have used the lite-on restore vid on a number of occasions and had gr8 success when you think that all is over,
but on this occasion i cant seem to get it to respond and when i type in l-o-eras.exe i receive the following message;

Erases Lite-On Internal Spi

usage: L-O-Eras command_base
command_base: base register of ATA command block in hex (e.g. 1F0 or 170)

Written by Podger v0.1

any ideas anyone, i do have a via chip set that has never caused me a problems before in either flashing or restoring.

After you type l-o-eras.exe make sure you type in the correct port number after it which corresponds to where you attached the Liteon.

Well im trying to sort it as we speak with CoFree's video on my second pc but still to no avail,

i type in l-o-eras.exe D860 (whisch is my port)
status FF80 appears

i do it again and stil i get
status FF80 not the FF72 that i require

i am using the ck3 connectivity kit, i have tried it with the red light on and the blue light on and still no FF72,

Try it a few times, if you're getting 80, that means loe can see the drive on the port and you should be able to get it eventually...

Ok, ill post my recovery method I just need to know if your using a VIA chipset and windows XP

edit:

It looks like you do so heres what i did.

Go to JF with your dummy.bin and spoof your key into your IX firmware

then open up dosflash 32 (dosflash 16 i had no luck with) with your port IO drivers installed correctly and your VIA driverless/
Go to the port you are using then on the drop-bar hit Lite-on erase. It should erase it but first make sure your lite-on is open and push in halfway using the manual eject method.

Once it comes back with status 0x72 then your free to flash with what ever program you want I personally prefer Dosflash 32 because it does what Iprep and Jf do all in one in XP/Vista without needing USB or floppy etc. BTW I find it stable

PS for flashing on dosflash 32 make sure you hit lite-on flash and open up the firmware with your key spoofed in.

Good Luck
