Verbatim Warrenty?
I heard that verbatim's have lifetime warrenty or like a successful burn guarentee or something...
Each time I try to burn a game I have a 50% success rate... Every second dvd does not play on my xbox... Sometimes I get please put in xbox 360 sometimes I get disk is dirty...
EX:
I try to burn orange box, first time it says successful, then it will not play on my xbox, I am told to put it into a 360 console
Second time I burn it again, successful, then my xbox plays it fine
I go to burn mass effect it will say successful, but then my xbox will tell me disk is dirty
Second time I burn it it will work fine.
So does the warranty work for my scenario? If so how do I get replacement disks sent to me?

Re: Verbatim Warrenty?
I will assume you burn at 2.4x...if that's true, it most likely is a burner issue. Had this problem, burners degrade over time and most need a brief rest between burnings.

Re: Verbatim Warrenty?
I burn at 4x because I buy 8x MIS disks and they only support 4, 6, and 8.
My dvd burner is is close to new, my pc was built probably a year ago, and I hardly ever burn things...
I dont know, I guess ill try burning again tomorrow...
Any way I can get a refund or more disks? Im pretty pissed that I spent 45 dollars for 15 disks and only have 7 blank disks left and 3 games burned.

New DVD burners are cheap. I buy a new one every 6 months... i have used both pioneer and lite-on, prefer the pioneer, and you can get them shipped on new egg for $33.
they have this sata model for 22.99, plus free S&h.
LITE-ON 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model iHAS122-04 - OEM
or this one for 24.99 with free shipping.
Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model DVR-216DBK - OEM
Dont get the lightscribe model, unless you need it, you can always save cash there...
As far as what you payed for verbatims, you got "bad word". Sounds like best buy pricing.
If you have a Sam's club membership, or can leach off someone that does, you can get Verb Dual layers for $60 for a 50 pack. That is about 1.28 a disc where I live, with 8% sales tax.
On newegg, they have a 20 pack for 26.99 with free shipping, so that is only 1.35 a disc. Like was said, always burn at 2.4x for no errors, I burn at 4x and hit one verbatim coaster maybe every 150 discs.
I use them for movies and games, for multiple consoles, they are the best media I have used on the market.
It sucks to get coasters, but you still have 3 games for the price of 1 used one. So if you bought a brand new SATA burner, and 20 verbatims, both items have free shipping, you can be into the whole thing for between 48 and 54 dollars, still less than one new game, and have the potential for getting 20 out of the deal.
If you go this route, use ABGX on every game before you burn it, and use a quality img burning software like alchohol120, or my personal free favorite, imgburn.
Modding and backups is a very trial and error based scenario, but you can have a lot of fun doing it.

Re: Verbatim Warrenty?
I definitely do not want to buy another burner, money is an issue, I am completely out of it, and am out of work for a while. I spent about a grand on my high school grad... 600 for my class ring, 300 for limo, 100 for tux... I am also owe my dad another hundred for things I have bought online. I am in no position to buy another burner online.
Anyways, my burner was quite good at the time I bought my computer, it is a lite-on with lightscribe again, lightely used, and has never given me a coaster when I have used it (aside from xbox games).. I am going to have a friend bring his laptop over and ill try using it to burn. ( edit: I read something about liteon + verbatim doesnt go too well together, this may be my problem, guess ill find out after I try my buddy's laptop.)
Halo wars burned first try, no problems. RE 5 f***ed up on a verbatim, but then I used some HP DL DVD+R I had laying around, and it worked like a charm on that disk, then orange box didnt work on my verbatim, but it worked on my second one. Then I tried assassin's creed it failed, I tried mass effect twice and it failed once then the second time it failed when I selected my storage device.
I have played halo wars for like 2 weeks with no problem, then after I was trying mass effect + assassin's creed I couldnt play it so I had to restart my xbox and try again, and it worked. Maybe my xbox drive itself is messed...
The disks I bought I just looked at the reciept, and they were like 28 before taxes, and like 30 after. I just found some at future shop (15 pk) for 19.99 its on sale for a week or so, savings of 25.00. The disks your talking about sound like they are MII and not MIS. If I am having troubles with the highest quality ever produced (MIS) I would definitely not use the lowest quality (MII)
All my games are ripped via my kreon drive, so I dont see a reason to use ABGX, but I have checked mass effect and its the only game I have checked and all checks have passed, yet its the only game my xbox will not play.
PS I cannot burn at 2.4x because my disks are MIS, and do not support 2.4 only 4,6,8.
