Help with RROD

Post by dustman1995 »

Hey guys,
I'm about to tackle my first RROD on my cuz's hit 47. Has anyone tried the penny trick? and is it a good fix or should I try something else. The penny trick looks pretty straight forward and it sounds cool. That's why I'm drawn to it.

do the xclamp fix first m8.always worked for me.remember to use good quality thermal paste(arctic silver).if after doin it,it still rrod's then tweak the bolts(tighten).do them like you would a car wheel(opposites)..take your time, its easy really...cleaning chips down takes the longest time

I think I'm going to go with the xclamp fix. Where do I get those screws and nylon washers? Will a hardware store have the exact ones? These are the part numbers for the screws and washers.
5mm Flat washers (B&Q avf-064968) 10
5mm x0.8x10 machine screws (B&Q avf-069918) 11
Arctic Silver Thermal Compound 1

When i go to the hardware store to pick up my supplies for the x-clamp fix. The supplies i get are as follows. I have gone with the metric sizes before but it seems that the threads dont match up exactly.

#10x32 3/8" screws
#10 nylon washers
