CK3 Pro and Probe usb driver woes

Post by the_chinman »

Hi all, i received one of these to flash my mates liteon drive, and followed the xecuter tutorial word for word, but it seems like my pc does not detect it when i plug in the usb, there was no unknown device found before installation of the driver and was still not detected after installing the usb drivers, its as if i didnt even plug it in. i have scoured the forums for answers and have tried all the different solutions. different drivers (rhpg, xecuter, cktool 1.24, prollific), different usb cables, different usb ports, cycling the ck3, moving the drawer more slightly in and out, tried a different computer, and still no joy. there was one reboot where it was detected but didnt seem to want to install the drivers, but have not got it to detect again. i have seen other forums where other people have the exact same problem, but there are no cases where there was a clear answer to how they fixed it, most of the time it was a case of it just started working.

i am pretty sure i was careful to wire up the device properly, and that it is not one of the faulty ones where the chip overheats, no heat and no burning smells here.

i'd appreciate it if anyone has had this problem can share how they fixed it, i have already ordered a serial cable to do it that way but would love to flash it using the usb method as intended for future use

Thanks for reading

fyi: when i open jungleflasher i can see the drive via the sata card but when i select the com port, only com 1 and 2 are the serial ports and not the usb, usually its com 3 according to other people

well that is also the first thing i would do is try a rs232 com cable.

but
keep in mind you will only have to dump with a com cable or usb the first time.
after that you will dump out the sata cable
like the other dvd drives.

the 9 pin port will most likly be com1 and/or 2 if you have more than 1
but
the usb ports will be all over the place.
com3 could be anyother port not just a usb

sorry
i know all that do help
does this computer have a via chipset
if it dont then you dont need the portio driver if that is the driver you are talking about.
as far as the usb pro usb driver goes
all i had to do was run the setup.exe and it was done
hmmm
maybe one of the other guy will have something they can add.

i am connected to a pci sat card with the correct sata chipset, in jungleflasher i can see the drive fine, it is the usb com port i am having trouble detcting, installing and seeing in JF. i have installed the portio driver with no problems at all. it is the ck3 probe usb driver i am having problems with. i installed the one from the xecuter website, then tried cktool, then tried prolific, then tried your website. was hoping your driver mayve done the trick, as it was on your website that i found the latest iprep. serial cable should arrive tomorrow and hopefully all would be well, but would appreciate if i could find out whats up with the usb. maybe it is just faulty and i am just that unlucky

thanks again

bought a serial cable for 2 quid, and worked perfectly. can only assume the usb chip or port on the ck3 pro was faulty, disappointing

Might sound daft question but do you have the correct driver for the usb?

If you believe that your ck3 is faulty take a look at this site if you cant return it to where you have brought it from.
