Lite-On Flash Iprep HELP WANTED

Post by Adam22 »

Hi i have just looked at the video on this site from Cofree (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lr_rIvYPpE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but i want to know what you do with setting up the serial cable before hand, i want to use serial to serial as i have heard this is the best method for less problems over the usb method) to grab the key info! But what i want to know is do i have to install the Port I/O Driver for the this Iprep Dos method or is that only relevent in windows.

The Video is very clear and helpfull apart from not showing what you do with the serial cable to COM

Also i have a CK3 with Probe on its way but this will include a usb rather than Serail so what exact serail cable do i need and does the length of the cable come into it atall? some cables are for Null modems some are not but im not sure exactly what serial cable to buy

MANY THANKS

well if you lock up a lite-on then you need to mix thing up with different programs.

but
for the most part
its best to stick with one program all the way through.

I apologize if this is not the best thread to post in but here's my thoughts with a question to follow;
I have been reading for months now on flashing and what I find is that there are million tools out there to do the same job. I hear that as of March 2009, Jungle flasher is the way to go. I have all the latest firmware, jungleflash 1.55, a 360 blaster, a 360usb kit, a ViA Sata card ( I even have iprep which I used to successfully flash a sammy drive previously).
The problem I have is the following,
I have a new drive which is a liteon (DG-16D2S). with the tools listed above am I ready? Do I have to connect R707 points at this point? or is this a requirement for older methods of flashing the drive? I can solder easily enough, I just don't know if I have to.

Can anyone tell me if I have everything I need, and what the best method would be to start? I was able to get as far as having JF recognize the drive, but getting they key gave me a bad serial error???
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

i did not see that you have a ck3
you will need one of some kind. a ck3 pro will have a com port and a usb port.
the ck3 lite just has a com port but it comes with the com cable with it.
if you can solder then you wont need a probe
if you cant solder you will need a probe

.

yes you will have to solder ,bridge or use a probe the first time to get your info.
after the dvd drive has been flash with ixtreme firmware.
then you can dump with out solder or a probe

the firmware info will not dump out a sata cabe when its stock
after you have flashed it the ixtreme will dump out a sata cable.

have any more questions just post ;)

Hi. I looked at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oJHKomY ... r_embedded" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am trying to upgrade my lite-on from 1.51 to 1.6. I had someone flash it for me and I have the original key files. I don't have the probe or any device. So do I just follow the same instructions from your video?.
Thanks for your help

guyts what happens when you hijack a thread is
it gets over looked.

This thread was "Adam22 " thread

next time start your on thread.
Its considered rude to hijack a thread.
;)

in the recover video i use ipre 6.2
you can find it here
viewtopic.php?f=112&t=166&p=454#p454" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

then just do it like the video.

also you don't necessarily need to you 6.2 to do the recovery. just prepare the flash drive as normal and remove all the things that aren't needed as specified in the tutorial and it should work. that's how i've done it and i started of using iPrep 8
