When updating the firmware on a samsung

Post by XisiLL »

Can I just do it as if I were flashing the drive from stock ? And if I can't how would I go about updating the firmware. Thanks

The only difference from updating the firmware is, from stock the drive tray is closed and the sammy unlock is used. Instead power on the drive with the tray ejected halfway. This "unlocks" the drive to be flashed again, now hit Intro/Device Id instead of the unlock button. Now flash as normal.

Yep, even the lite-ons are really simple to upgrade if they've been flashed with 1.5 or later.

SO after I read the firmware that was on it at the time and spoof that firmware to my target firmware. The next step instead of hitting Sammy / BenQ unlock I hit intro / device ID with the tray half open then write ?

Well you should've had to hit the intro/device id button before you were able to read it. but if you got a good read anyways then once you have the new 1.6 cfw with your good key, then all you need to do is click the write button and you are done my friend. OH don't forget to hit outro/ATA reset. Before powering down the drive.
