New problem with serial data using JF 0.1.6.2

Post by ghost.x74 »

I noticed a new problem today flashing a new Liteon drive that I just wanted to bring to peoples attention.

A few months back, I had a problem with Jungle flasher not pulling the correct serial data from drives.
The thread can be found here

viewtopic.php?f=61&t=4476&st=0&sk=t&sd=a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is also a tutorial on how to manually enter the correct data using Jungle Flasher which can be found here

viewtopic.php?f=198&t=4628" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Today I flashed a new Liteon drive which had a HW Version A0A2 instead of the old A0A1

When I checked the serial data in Jungle Flasher before I compleated the flash, I noticed that Jungle Flasher incorrectly had the HW Version of A0A1.

I manually changed it to A0A2 before I carried out the flash and all is fine.
I think that this is something that the rest of you guys would want to look out for if you are flashing new Liteon drives.
The problem is really easy to correct by using the same methods listed in the tutorial linked above.
But its just not very easy to notice, so keep your eyes open when flashing Liteons :shock:

I also think that it would be a good idea if someone here could report this to the Jungle Flasher team for correction in a later release.

Good info man. I always check the label I put the info in anyway, but I would say that some people just automatically assume that what JF puts in is correct, so yeah, thats some good information for sure.

OK, I have just flashed another Liteon and the exact same thing has happened.

Thats 2/2 today and I have tried to dump the info 4 or 5 times just to make sure that I was not getting a bad dump.

So im guessing that this is a fault which is going to occur every time with these new HW version A0A2 drives.

I have checked all of the other serial data on both drives and it is all coming up perfectly.

For some reason, JungleFlasher just is not getting the HW version correct.

I foresee a new version of JF being released in the next little bit then. What I would do, if you can is get in the JF IRC channel and see if they know about that little issue.

I dont use IRC so I am never on there.

If yourself or any of the other guys on here do be on IRC and know any of the JF team could you mention it to one of them?

They may already be aware of it, but it wouldnt hurt to mention it just in case they are not.
