Having trouble flashing

Post by c0afanh »

I am having trouble flashing a Samsung TS-H943A ms28 Drive. I am using iPrep v008.8 with the updated Def file. I am trying to flash the drive with iXtreme v1.6, but iPrep keeps stating that there is "No valid key found!". Does anyone know how to resolve this problem. Let me know. Thanks....c0afanh.

Well, it sounds to me like you have not put a key in the firmware.

Do you have a dump of your samsung's OFW? Are you dumping before flashing?

No, because I don't think it came with a DVD key at all. Every time I go to do the dump of the Samsung Drive's OFW. iPrep keeps stating the it can not find a valid DVD key or it displays this massage: "No valid key found!". I am using iPrep v008.8 with the updated ixDef file. I tried using iPrep v009.0, but it kept freezing up. Anyway, I tried several times to dump the OFW, but it keeps showing the "No valid key found!" message. So therefore, I can not flash the Samsung drive at all. What happens if the drive doesn't have a DVD key? I have 2 Samsung Drives and both are ms28. The first Samsung drive I flashed works fine and I did save the OFW file to that drive. My question is, can I use that OFW and install it into the 2nd Samsung drive that I am having trouble flashing? Also, if I wanted to flash the 2nd Samsung drive that I am having trouble with, with the iXtreme v1.6 0800 firmware, does it really need the DVD key or OFW? Please someone let me know. Thanks....c0afanh.

P.S. Does anyone know when the next update is on the iPrep program?

Where did you get this drive? Does it work in your console?

you should try using jungleflasher, it may say the same thing, but come up with a drive key in the log. if in fact you CANT get a key off of it then that xbox is pretty much a parts box. you'd be able to use the drive to spoof it to another box, but the actual 360 itself will pretty much just be a DVD player at that point.

the key is on the drive, but is specific to the console, so you wouldnt be able to switch boxes and get a different key from the drive on the same console... So YES, you really do need the key or OFW of off the drive or else its just a spare drive that will work if the other one ever craps out.

if you use j/f though, or a hex editor you may still be able to get a key out of it even if everything says no valid key found...

now if you have two drives but only 1 xbox then you'll be ok with just using the OFW and key that you already have, thats essentially spoofing the drive. but you didnt say if you had two xbox or not so i just assumed you did...

If you try JF, and you do get the key in the log, thats all you need...
