Bricked LiteOn Drive.

Post by Mattyperea »

I am currently new at flashing, I am taking in alot of information all at once.. And I apologize if im not giving enough information on my current situation..

Anyway, I have modded my first 360 with a Hitachi 79 drive in it, I had success and its working fully functional..
I was stoked, So i decided to mod my 2nd 360..

It is a LiteOn Drive, I followed steps from another site, and everything seemed as if tho it were going smoothe and then it locked up on me and I am getting no response from the drive.

I have all my .bin files, And I have tried to follow CoFree's tutorial on how to unbrick the drive, but I just cant seem to get Iprep to work out in my favor so I must be doing something wrong.

I have a 2 gig flash drive, and all the programs necessary (I believe).
I have a CK3 Lite, and the Probe, and im running the SERIAL port, not the USB.

Is there any chance anyone could possibly get me in a chat room and or a PM to help me out a little bit?

Thanks.

Hey welcome to the Forest!!!

Are you getting an error message? Are you able to boot into IPrep? Do you have all the files that you need?

Oh, you posted in the wrong section, but one of the guys will take care of that.

Thanks for the quick reply guys..
Im trying to make a proper boot device using Iprep and a USB Flash Drive by following the tutorial.

Im not sure if it is going to affect the USB Boot folders, but When I attempted to create the bootable USB drive, I clicked "start" from Iprep, And I get an error that says "Windows - Drive Not Ready" / Exception Processing Message c00000a3 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c, And I get the options [Cancel] [Try Again] or [Continue],
When I click "Try again" I Get the same error.
When I click Continue, It creates all the files on the USB Flash drive.
So Im assuming that everything is good, Everything seems to be on the flash drive, Im just wondering if this is going to affect my boot.

Also, i am still pretty new to flashing, So im sorry if I ask some stupid questions, Hopefully I can catch on pretty quick! Haha.

But, How exactly do I boot from my flash drive?

Thanks for all the help.

The "Exception Processing Message" normally indicate that its trying to access your floppy. You can stop this message popping up by going into your bios and disabling the floppy (even if you dont have one in your pc, i know it sounds daft) But yeah you're good to go after pressing continue.

Im Using Iprep Version 10.7

Im having problems creating the boot disk on to the flash drive.

I load the firmware, and I select "Start"
And it says...

Preparing Destination
Making Drive F:\ Bootable
Copying Lite-On 74850C Files to F:/

And that is as far as it goes, Ive been sitting here for 5 minutes and it hasnt budged!

Oh Wait!
It finally did something after 30 minutes! Haha.

It now looks like this..

Preparing Destination
Making Drive F:/ Bootable
Copying Lite-On 74850C Files to F:/
Copying Generic Tools to F:/
Generating Generic Files on F:/

It hasnt finished yet, Im hoping it will.. Any ideas what might be wrong?

I was able to boot up using the USB Device, following this tutorial
viewtopic.php?f=197&t=7041" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

These are the steps I have followed so far.
1) Open Jungle Flasher
2) Load your source firmware ( this is the dummy.bin which you would have got when you clicked get key button in the dvd32key tab)
3) Click no when prompted to auto load ixtreme.
4) Load "ix16-liteon-repack" as your target firmware.
5) Click on "SPOOF TO TARGET" (all the information from you dummy.bin will be copied and your custom firmware will be created.
6) Check that your key has copied correctly from your source firmware.
7) Now save the file as litcfw.bin

You will need to make a bootable usb device either usb or floppy ( usb device is much better)
once you have done that open the device up

1) You will see a folder called backups you will need to open that folder. and create another folder called 1234567
2) Open that folder and create another folder called 12345
3) Copy and paste into that folder your custom firmware that you made in Jungle Flasher "litcfw.bin"

you should end up with the folders like this BACKUPS\1234567\12345\litcfw.bin

You will need to have the tray of your drive half open, if you drive has locked up and wont open there is an attached pic on how to open the drive manually. All you need to do is push the grey bar sideways with just enought force for it to open.

Connect the power to the drive but do not switch it on, also leave the sata cable out
Boot into your iprep device

When I boot in to the Iprep Device, The Tutorial asks me to type in this command..

C:\>flit 1234567 12345

When I do this.. All it says is, "Bad command or file name"

Any ideas?
