1) sign up
2) download and install software
3) Change the MAC address on your 360 to 00125A-?????? (no dash will show up when entering in the 360)
Make the last 6 digits UNIQUE (letters and numbers, i used the first 6 digits of my phone number)-It may help to restart your 360, but most of the time this is not necessary.
(System setting>Network Settings>Configure settings>Advanced settings.) be sure to click done at the bottom of the settings.
4) port forward 30000 on your router for full udp access. if you're not connected to a router then skip this step. and half of step 5.

5) open xlink configuration (start>programs>xlink>configure kai) and change the port to 30000 also. don't change deep port. customize the other settings to however you want it. then save and exit.

(everything above should only have to be done once)
5) startup xlink kia (start>programs>xlink kai>start kai), it should look like this:

6) (360) now put what ever system link enabled game in the 360 and go to system link and click join game, you should see a blank list with nobody up there cause you haven't joined an arena yet, just leave it like that for the time being.
7) (back to program) click the magnifying glass and then click the folder twice. clicking the folder once will display some technical information and clicking it again will tell you if you're configured successfully or not. Note: if you haven't done number 6 yet it will say it can't find your console, you have to be searching for a game in order for it to see you.

8) now click the globe, it will take you to a list of consoles, click the one you want (in this case 360), then it will take to to another list of categories, find the category you want, then its gonna take you to a list of popular system link enabled games and you pick which one you want, then its gonna take you to a list of countries, pick where you live lol, then we get to the arena, here you can join an area or create your own if you're just trying to play with friends.

now heres the thing about arenas, you have a moderator (the person that created the arena) and the people that join it. the moderators have full rights but don't have to actually host the game. if anyone is hosting a game it will now show up automatically (or upon hitting refresh) on your 360 from step 6. on the left panel you'll see all of the people in the arena. under their name you will see their ping. if their ping is under 30 then you will be able to play with them if they're hosting. so if you see somebody that has a ping under 30 and they're not hosting or playing with someone else then you can ask them if they can host a game. if someone shows up on your system link and their ping is over 30 then chances are you won't be able to join. so its best to tell people in your area so yall can join up and play, you'll have a better chance of playing with someone in you same area than someone states away. having a good broadband speed (upload) is a factor too. the farthest i've played is philly and i'm from nc.

don't have any 3rd party bandwidth hogging programs open (limewire, utorrent) whether they're downloading or not. lastly let the program through your firewall, even though i let the program through my firewall and the people hosting was showing up on my 360 i still couldn't connect, i had to cut my firewall off, then i connected instantly. so that is something that might be different for everyone. i recommend cutting it of while you try to play to eliminate all complications.
it seems like a long process but it literately takes all of 5 minutes to do all of that. i hoped that helps any and everyone who reads this. good luck! don't forget to tell everyone lol.
