Re: Benq sounds
Yes the drive is going to sound a little different as it looks for info on the disc. It will not always make one steady noise if that is what you are asking.phelixnyc wrote:Cofree and Jman it was never a clicking its a soft chrrring but not screeching. Your right I hear the drive, damn it sounds like a fan. Yes i hear the drive seeking info thats when the soft chrrring comes in every few seconds, normal?
Use the absolute best media you can afford. The Singapore 2.4x-8x Verbatims are the best you can use for this. Not the India ones if you can avoid it. The India ones are second rate.

Maybe I am describing the sound using the wrong word. Its sounds like its seeking info. Seems like the lens is going back and fourth. Thanx.
Re: Benq sounds
yes it will make a high pitch sound when the lasr is moving fast back and forth
Re: Benq sounds
Wondering about an update...i had a hitachi v59 and before my xbox died, another heat-issue was the pin that holds the disc in place melted away from the disc drive and made an absolutely horrid sound. I had never heard that type of sound, like a grinding, but the disc itself was unscathed.
If it happens to you, you can fix it easily by opening the disc drive and using epoxy to re-attach the magnet pin.
