Theyre both about the same, flashing is pretty easy due to the 2 programs iPrep, and JF, they both basically do all the work for you, all you need to do is click a few button's or type a few commands.

I'm a jf user, so i'd recommend it, but use whichever you feel comfortable with.

being that the drive has already been flashed by someone else, leaves me without the original firmware, does that create a problem for me? or can i just load up the new firmware and have at it?

thanks

Only hitachi drives have to be restore before reflashing, to my understanding all other drive can be reflashed without restoring original FW.

Nope, its no big deal that its already flashed. Just treat it as if its never been flashed. Make sure you save the firmware you dump from the drive (it will be saved in your backups folder and named sam-ofw.bin if you use iprep) if you use jungle it will prompt you to save once you dump the drive.

Also, you dont need the real ofw for hitachi's all the hit ofw's are included with jungle flasher, so it will dump the FW on the drive, spoof that into the OFW, flash the ofw to the drive, then you flash it as if its never been flashed before.
