Sony set to reveal PS3 Arc's Nunchuk controller
GDC 2010 kicks off

Sony is rumored to be launching a Nunchuck style add-on to its so-called 'Arc' motion control device for the PS3, with the possibility of a reveal at this week's Games Developer's Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.

The latest PlayStation Arc rumors started, as many gaming tech scuttlebutt does, over on GAF, with a forum poster claiming to have seen recent "pictures" of "Wand/Nunchuk".

Big button on the Arc

The user, "ichinisan", says the add-on has an analog stick and X and O buttons and that the L1 and L2 shoulder buttons are underneath the D-Pad.

He also says that the wand contains "one very big button on top"; with Sony's trademark facebuttons of X, O, Triangle and Square added on; and a trigger marked "T".

If it is to be revealed, then we will no doubt hear lots more from Sony's GDC press event on Wednesday.

Sony has registered “PlayStation Move” in Europe, and is potentially the name of the upcoming motion controller – previously thought to be Arc.

The filing for the name was made in Europe yesterday and could signal that the name “Arc” has been dropped. The company also registered the image as shown above.

Sony will be holding its press conference for GDC today where hopefully the company will spell out its plans for the long talked about motion controller.

Personally I'm not a big motion control guy, ive played wii, but it's never given me a real feel of whatever im doing. The Playstation move will probably be the same, and natal will probably have all kinda of problems seeing as its a microsoft product.

I really wish motion control would just go away......my kids enjoy the Wii and I must admit the bowling is awesome but all the other games blow HARD! Plus all these game devs are gonna be pumping there resources into motion control games to turn a buck and hopefully we won't be stuck with more crap after crap titles like the pump out weekly on the Wii!

SincereSoprano, I agree the wii is fun for a little while, but I dont find it all that fun if I'm playing alone. The reason why is most time's it's like flick your wrist up and down as fast as you can and your character will begin running. What does flicking your wrist up and down have to do with running?

I like the idea of being in the game, whenever I see a movie where there is a scene where someone is playing a virtual reality video game I think wow that would be amazing if that were true. Thats the kind of motion control I'd like to see, natal looked promising when they were playing dodge ball or whatever that was, and paint etc, but like I said earlier its a microsoft product so I dont have high hopes.
