US Nintendo Wii owners can now order a streaming disc from Netflix, with the first round due to arrive at homes today.
The disc enables non-HD streaming to the console, so long as gamers have a $8.99 per month subscription to Netflix. People who have signed up to get the free disc should be ready to start streaming movies and TV shows by the end of today.
"Our research shows that 86 per cent of all US Wii consoles are located in the living room. The Wii console is the social hub around which friends and family members gather to play games and have fun," said Nintendo US president Reggie Fils-Aime when the scheme was first announced earlier this year.
There has also been recent speculation that the Netflix streaming service could be coming to the Nintendo DS, with Fils-Aime saying it would be "absolutely possible".
