My TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D163B SB01 at [E]
Re: My TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D163B SB01 at [E]
Hey guys im bumping up this post because im experiencing the same problem and using alot of the same setup i have also been threw every step mentioned in this post.
The drive doesnt give me read option only will for already burned games
Im using a via 6421A pci card
SH D163B SB01- KREON 1.00
Xbc does not give me a unlock option
and when i put the game in it reads it at 7.05 for halo 3
i do not hear the drive spin that much either
While trying to reflash i had to nocheck the drive
and when flashing gave me error flash failed
i Have tested this in my sisters computer
her computer has a sata mother board
The drive sees the game in xbox as 5.0? megs
i am able to unlock the drive
and i am able to to rip the game
drive spins like crazy
I was also able to flash drive no problems
I have read around and seen that no one has had luck with the vt-6421 and sh d163b
does any one have any idea on what pci card would be best for flashing kreon software and for Xbc to to detect and rip?

Here is a simple solution that should work for you or anyone else having this issue. Try getting an external USB enclosure. One that supports sata DVD drives. That way your not using the VIA card to connect the drive to, it would be connecting by USB instead.
Something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817332019" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yep that should work fine, has a SATA interface and support for 5.25'' drives.

Agreed, that should work fine for your circumstances.

Is there a reason why it doesnt work with this card? has anyone got it to work with it? Its the perfect card for flashing the dvd rom drives i wonder why it cant see this drive that good. And it sees backups already backed up no problem its just with new games that it wont. I see alot of the tutorials on this site have to do with flashing the drive with the via 6421 card but what about with ripping the games. Its just bugging me that it wouldnt work

i know what you mean
it can get to be a pain some times.
i git a shd162c(ide) and it works fine.
ive not messed with one of the sata drives.
but
if it like the rest of the stuff i do it would have been a pain with me to

Like CoFree, I use the sh-d162c drive. The IDE version so I don't know the total answer to this situation. I just now that when your messing with modded stuff so there is no guarantee that it will work what so ever.

Re: My TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D163B SB01 at [E]
Can someone do me a huge favor, I had accidentally spoofed my sh-d163b sb01 to a liteon drive without generating a Jungle flasher dummy.bin. If someone could send me this file I would be eternally gratefull. I have flashed the drive with the original fw sucessfully but the drive properties won't load and is not being recognized by Windows. Please help!

Well this is a 2 year old topic so there is no need to post in it, plus your hijacking the thread.
Anyhow, sims 2 is not a 360 game so to copy it to your computer is a completely different process.
All you need to do is get some software that can rip the game. Just google "dvd to iso" download some freeware put the game in your computer and then copy the disk. You'll probably have a .iso file which you can extract, or mount and it's the exact same as having put the game disk into your computer. (Except it'll install faster since your not using a slow optical drive to read the data)
