Hackers use algorithm to turn old, used codes into new ones worth 160 Microsoft Points.

A website that generated Microsoft Points codes has cost Microsoft $1.2 million dollars, according to reports.

Save And Quit reports that the website was devised by hackers who found an algorithm to add to existing, used points codes that would generate new ones. Each refresh of the page produced a valid code for 160 Microsoft Points.

Another hacker developed software that automated the process, with users able to choose between 160 MSP, a Halo: Reach Banshee avatar prop, or a 48-hour Xbox Live trial.

The website has since been shut down, leaving Microsoft to count the cost, which Save And Quit puts at $1.2 million.

Just 1.2Mil? I'm sure M$ is fuming @ 1.2Mil. It probably cost them more to do the research than they actually lost.
