DVD Drive won't respond to open/close.

Post by xNotta »

Hi,
I wanted to upgrade my Lite-On 7400 to LiteOn LT+v1.1.
It is currently at an older version that makes it so I can't dump the drive keys anymore.
(I do have hundreds of good backups of them though)

My problem is when I went into Jungle Flasher and Ejected the CD Tray, Powered it off, pushed the CD tray back in half way.
The Drive no longer opens or closes via the Open button on my Xtractor nor the xbox's Open button.
JF said something about sending a "Vendor Intro" and gave me status 0x0D (or something like that.)
I get E64 when the Xbox is powered on, so It's a problem with the DVD Drive.

How can I fix the drive not opening or closing?

Thank You.

you have to flash in a firmware
the drive as it is right does not have a firmware in it
as long as you know the port the dv drive is plugged in
you just need to build a hacked firmware with the key you know is for
that console and flash it in

Thank you for the reply Cofree.
I was a bit rushed in my first post and forgot to mention I did try to "Lite-on Erase".
So, That's what I thought, I erased my firmware.
I tried to reflash the drive, but JF won't detect my drive type.
iPrep won't read the LT1.1+ FW so I wasn't able to try reflashing in dos.
If there's any other info I can provide that might help explain this better, please ask and I will supply it.

I am really at a loss as to what I should do to reflash the drive.
Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks again.

If you got your frimware made with jf. use dosflash 1.9 to flash it in.

I have the CFW I made with JF.
Is there a tutorial somewhere that can give me a quick run down on how to use dosflash correctly?
I am sure I can figure it out, but I don't want to mess anything up more than I have already.

Thanks.

ive only used dos flash to dump a drive
you cant hurt the drive at this point
just open dos flash and look around
it not bad

you should be able to flash the drive with jungle flasher and long as you know what port the drive is plugged in

You can use jungle to recover just as easily as dosflash or iprep.

As long as when you plug the drive into your computer it doesnt freeze, and you know what port your drive is plugged into, things should be easy.

Just use the erase command, then write either your OFW, or LT +

Some drives require a bit of messing around to get the correct status, but I personally have never used iprep or dosflash to recover a lite-on, ive used jungle a number of times.

Anyhow if you prefer to use dosflash or iprep, by all means use them. I figure your comfortable with JF so you may as well use it.

Hey, I have good news. My drive is fixed and working again. :D
I used iPrep to make the bootable disk, but I had to use iXtreme1.51 to enable the liteon option. (Since iprep v.10-12 would not accept LT1.1+)
I then replaced the /CustomFirmware/Lt74.bin with the CFW I made using Jungle Flasher.
Booted into iPrep and did "L74 ******* ***** w"
Followed the instructions and it worked perfectly.

Thank you so much CoFree, HaGGardSmurf, and ncaaplayer4 for all of your guy's help with this and for all of your help in the past.
