connect the router to existing computer

Do I connect the router to existing computer with internet to connect new laptop? Same ? as before...have new laptop, need to connect to router to use existing connection....does router need to be set up/connected to old computer/internet connecton to enable new laptop for internet service?

The simplest thing to do is connect the router to the internet and then connect the laptop and the computer to it.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake,
you just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake.

Routers are basically plug and play. The factory settings will more than suffice for most people.

So all you really need to do is connect your modem to your router, verify you have set a password for you wifi (use WPA or WPA2, as WEP is easily crackable) then connect wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable.
