Ritek dye burner max settings
I'm sick of wasting Verbs so for anyone with a load of Ritek s04-66 discs i've been having good verified burns by changing the write speed settings to enable them to burn at 2.4x instead of only being able to select 4x in imageburn which was giving me verify errors at 50 percent. You can use MediaCodeSpeed to change the details of the ihas final.bin which corresponds to your drive then reflash it in. When you load the finalbin into mcse, double click on the Ritek s04-66 line and select RicohJPN D00-001 and click ok. It will flash a warning up saying that the Jpn will now not be supported, click ok then save the file. It will save it as iHAS-124B-AL0S-MKM001MKM003-final_speedpatched.bin or whatever one corresponds to your drive firmware. Now just flash it back over onto the drive and try a cheap disc with that dye on. I've been using Aritas with the Ritek dye but i believe memorex ones and a few others use the same. Seems long winded but its a doddle and won't affect the verb speeds etc. You can also try enabling force Hypertuning, online hypertuning and smartburn (which should be enabled by default) in the advanced settings in the lower right hand corner on the burning screen. However mine have been burning with the standard settings and with burnproof disabled and so far no bad burns and 100 percent verified.
Heres the firmware for the 124b's and the 524b's if you don't want to create it yourself: And MCSE if you want to make your own:

Yeah good plan. Wish i'd done this before buying more Verbs as i've got tubs of Aritas kicking about
Just copied a few burns onto the hard drive and it worked at last
Done my lil woopwoop dance when they verified hahahaha

Re: Ritek dye burner max settings
Ive had nothing but trouble with them. Tried opc on off enabling and disabling forced ht, online ht, clearing opc etc but as soon as I try a 4x burn it won't pass the verification stage. Ran them through kprobe and I get shocking pi and pif spikes. Tried India and Singapore mkm003s and they both give similar results. They verify at 2.4 but the kprobe results are well out of range. the best burn I got with them at 4x was by manually setting the layerbreak instead of optimum but the break spike shot right up but the pi and pif averages were fantastic and it curiously verifies but not with optimum set. I've gone through 2 packs trying to find the best results
Ive changed the psu and checked the memory etc but I'm going to try them on another pc in case its the sata ports or something when I get another pack. Been a few people suffering the same on a few forums. So far my riteks are burning and verifying no bother and within kprope guidelines.

Thank u for the helpful information.
I tried Imation DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66). IMGBURN OK but the PIF/PI values are way too high. In conclusion, crappy media - not designed for 0800s! although strangely enuff the Dis ID is the same
I guess its not always just the dye being used but rather a combination of the brand + dye
Will try and source other non-Verbs...

Re: Ritek dye burner max settings
Wooh thats a massive spike. Sounds daft but you didn't knock the pc when it was burning by any chance as it could also be down to vibration or did you try a couple of discs with the same problem? If you have any left try it again with burnproof disabled and disable your online ht and your opc as i have mine set to off for 2.4x but noticed yours are on in the log. Bit of trial and error i know

Re: Ritek dye burner max settings
hey dude.. the speed on KProbe needs to be set to 4x not max.. try it again with that setting and see what you get.
