OK, so I just got my Xecuter's Connectivity Kit V2...yay!--took 3 weeks, but it's finally here. Since I've waited this long for it to get here, I thought I'd just verify how to use this thing since there is no manual with it.
There are 2 pieces, the smaller one (which I have seen in CoFree's videos) and the slightly bigger one that has a USB connector. There is also a wire that connects to the smaller piece. From watching the video I guess the small piece is the only one used? There are 2 white buttons on it aside from the power (on/off) switch. The white buttons say "Mode" and "Eject"...do I use those for anything? The wire that comes with it, I'm guessing I won't use it?
As for the power, I plan on powering from the same computer I will be doing the dump to/from...is that OK? (I'm gonna try to do this with the NTFS4DOS boot CD.) I notice that you use a separate PSU to power the Connectivity Kit, will I run into any trouble by using the PSU from the same computer I'm using to flash with?
Thanks

The larger one with the usb is purposed for the harddrive -NeoRio wrote:OK, so I just got my Xecuter's Connectivity Kit V2...yay!--took 3 weeks, but it's finally here. Since I've waited this long for it to get here, I thought I'd just verify how to use this thing since there is no manual with it.

if you want to connect your hd to your pc & backup/access your saves etc.
The small one is the dvd connector..
The small wire that comes with it is for connecting & powering the drive from the kit.
(this will make more sense when you have the drive in your hands & see the connection type required)
The mode button is for placing your drive into ModeB - required for hitachi drives

(when powered.. blue status = normal / red staus = ModeB)
...if you're flashing benQ's or sams you will not need to concern yourself with ModeB
The eject is quite simply to eject the tray.
as for psu... I would advise you source an individual power supply
It will be difficult to connect everything up & work in such a tight space!

Re: Using the Connectivity Kit V2 with computer's PSU
Thanks for the good answer. If I don't have an extra PSU though, will it work to power the Connectivity Kit from the computer's PSU that I'm doing the dump with? (Or is there a need to have the 360's DVD drive powered on at any point while the computer is off?) (I'm flashing a BenQ BTW.)MsK wrote:as for psu... i would add to that
you are going to be powering the pc on/off/on in dos/off/on/off/on in dos.
i would not power the dvd drive with the same computer that you are flashing with.

Re: Using the Connectivity Kit V2 with computer's PSU
OK, I'll see if I can borrow a PSU from another computer. (I sorta got the V2 because it had the on/off power switch...so that I wouldn't need an extra PSU.)

Re: Using the Connectivity Kit V2 with computer's PSU

Hey I`m glad to see you got your connectivity kit. So does this mean it time to flash the new benq? Good luck!
P.S. Did you get another Talismoon whisper fan to go in it?

Yes, I'm doing the flash tonight (hopefully). I have the WhisperFan (not the Max)...blue one...I'll put it in also. I also have the foam pads that I will put in the CD case to stop scratches. Now I'm just trying to figure out why iPrep is giving me an error.
