Do I need to re-flash my 360 for a game update??

Hey,

When I burn a new game and try to play this it wont allow me to play the game untill the box has been updated from online for a game update


What I wanna know is if i connect to live for this game update might I get banned? My IXtreme is out of date think i might have the 1.2c. But didnt wanna update my firmware if not nessicerry.

I dont subscribe to xbox live, but dont wanna get stuck later on not being able to get the game updates otherise i cannot play these games.

well i would update the firmware.There have been some important firmware update after v1.2
you may find that the update is from the game not live.undue the cat5 cable.now put in the game when it tells you to do the update say yes.
there are a lot of game updates that come off the disc not live.

i would not get on live with that firmware ever.

I have just updated (I never have connected to the router anyways)

I wanst aware that the update was from the disc. Thought that was from Live.

It seems to work. Might eventually update the box, just didnt wanna do it right now.

not all updates are from the disc.
most of the time.if the first time you put the disc in the console it tells you there is a update its from the disc.after that its a update from live fixing some bug or something with the game play

What game are you trying to play?
Assassins Creed update on disk.
Frontline and Army of Two update on disk. ( I think they have the same update.)

yeah try updating from the disk or game which you bought recently or the game which just came out, so that it has a recently added update, this will help you allow the update every time you put a disk in. i had to update three times until i realized i couldve done with a newly released game.

Yeah it was all sorted. Had a heavy drinkin night the nite before and i don t think that I read the message properly on the screen.

It seemed to work as soon as I pressed update. (im not even connected to Live) So im happy with that
