Shouldn't be too hard to check. There are a few ways to check. Get the trial version of "DVDInfopro" and check what it says for write capabilities of the drive.JUVY wrote:only thing i got it my laptop but i dont think the dvd drive is DL... i got a PHILIPS DVD+R drive....i it wierd cuz i burn a movie on a DL today to see if it would work and it burned fine.... i waz checking thru the setting of xbc and everything was ok except for the speed it waz set to 12x and on the guide it says 4x big diff in speed when it was reading it....if any 1 ever had problems backing up burnout paradise let me know....
Other than that... google the drive part number and they should say whether it's a DL drive or not.
And yet another way, if the drive has writing on the outside of the tray, it usually will display symbols for the writing / reading capability.
CD-ROM/Rewritable.
DVD-ROM / Rewritable / DVD+R DL
I found this out after assuming that my old NEC DVD Writer that I bought 2.5 years ago wasn't a DL. Looking at it more closely and I found that it had the "DVD+R DL" label on it.
