Well, if his wife, kids, and pets were threatened over the phone, and people were posting his home address.
I think you'd act like an asshole too.
Re: Ban Wave
maybe microsoft is logging every time you cut your 360 one and whether it can access xbl or not. then look at the games you played in the time periods when it couldn't connect and then determine whether to ban the console or not. example: unplug hard drive, memory units, and ethernet, played mw2 for a week then replug everything back in. i don't know about yall but when i cut auto sign in off and cut my xbox on, my router number for my xbox be blinking. just another thought.
played a new game (borderlands) tonight and still nothing. we'll see what happens in the morning.

Re: Ban Wave
I do think it's the firmware and what you play on your console, regardless of having a HDD installed or your internet connected. Like I said before, does anyone thing a big conglomerate like Microsoft haven't thought of that yet? Do we actually think that because we took off our hard drives and disconnected from the net then we are safe!? Cmon! I think what got me banned was playing ODST offline and no net connected months ago. I thought that approach would of worked but I think better of it now.
Re: Ban Wave
heres what happened to me I have 2 modded benq I thought one was banned. Because it had rrod so i thought it was banned but people tell me no it just wont connect to internet. I called M$ about fixing it they said that its ineligable because it shows it was tampered with. then they asked me what was the last game you played? so i put my original firmware back on it and the other xbox and havent been banned on the working one. trying to fix the 3rrod one to see if its banned. but whats funny is that I was playing online with borderlands with both systems and the other xbox they said shows that it wasn't tampered with. so i dont know what thier checking to ban them.

Re: Ban Wave
do you think if you took a banned box and some how got it to give you the E74 error they would just replace your box and in the end you would get an unbanned box?
just my thought
just my thought
Re: Ban Wave
The firmware is supposed to be undetectable, so I think what's done is done for his console. But if it makes him feel better than why not and report back if he does get banned.chrislfc wrote:hi guys sorry to here about all the guys who have been banned.

don't think so i think they would blacklist the console and void any warranty on the console. one way to try and find out for sure is register for repairs with a banned console and check your warrant status

Re: Ban Wave
Yesterday we had our first ban. This is after 2+ years of crossing all my t's and dotting all my i's. I've bent over backwards to do the *bestest* job possible in doing everything the right way; modding with the latest iXtreme FW (1.6 was the latest), making direct backups of ONLY my own original games, never once did anything else ever get popped into my machines. Stealth checking them with all the checking programs (and more recently with ABGX).
I'm thankful for the 2 years we had of good game play with no ban from Live. We have 2 BenQ machines and both have run like a charm all this time. I've done the tunnel mod for better air flow, I've put the DVD pads in there to avoid disc scratching, I've upgraded the fans to the Talismoon fans. I always used the highest quality Verbatim discs from Singapore. We've never played wave 4 games. I don't know what may have triggered this ban, but I'm curious to find out. In the original post, C4 mentioned 2 concerns, a) warez (not the case with me...I've NEVER d/l anything) and b) improper use of ABGX 360...could that have something to do with it? I started using ABGX over Mulletter and Schrom and XBC about 3 or 4 months ago. Now I just use XBC to pull the ss and check it with Kreon Checker, everything else is checked with ABGX.
We haven't turned on our 2nd machine (which sits in the living room) since the ban, we're a bit concerned that either it may already be flagged for a ban, or if not, once we load up our gamertag that has the Live account...they will watch us closer, as although it will be a different machine, the gamertag will be the same.
One pie-in-the-sky hope of mine is that MS will recant on some of their bannings, like the story of the guy who got banned for playing the original of Viva Pinata with a brand new machine...they are probably banning a lot of innocents in the process. If some of use were actually bullet proof with our machines, maybe they made mistakes with us too?

Re: Ban Wave
well one of my friend just make a point to me last night. he say if you think about it all the game you copy and play you save so much money. xbox 360 games are around $59 to $70 a pop. so if you xbox 360 get banned don't cry about it just think about the money you save and just buy a new one but don't mod it and if you real like the game go buy it but if you see a game you think you don't know going to be good just copy and play it and if you like it go out and buy the game

Re: Ban Wave
But you can't save any games or obtain any achievements on your live profile and transfer them from a banned xbox to a non banned box. If you were to play those burnt games you would have to play seperate from your profile. Before you were able to earn achievements offline and transfer but not anymore. Xbox seemed to cover their bases on what people truly want from xbox live. A banned modded console is now good to play burnt games, offline on a offline account. And it also sucks because you can't login and save your games to hard drive. The more that thing spins the greater its going to red ring and what are you going to do with a red ring banned console?darktron wrote:well one of my friend just make a point to me last night. he say if you think about it all the game you copy and play you save so much money. xbox 360 games are around $59 to $70 a pop. so if you xbox 360 get banned don't cry about it just think about the money you save and just buy a new one but don't mod it and if you real like the game go buy it but if you see a game you think you don't know going to be good just copy and play it and if you like it go out and buy the game

Re: Ban Wave
its monday! lets see if anyone gets banned today.. i have a hunch that the ban wave is over starting today or after today starting tomorrow =] why do i have this hunch?? i think that what ever is being done on the back end of xbl to ban us is using up some of the xbl resorces and their going to need to be on full blast come tonight and tomorrow when the whole world gets a hold of CODMW2.. i dont think they could afford for xbl to crash or slow down when they know everyone is going to be on tomorrow playing that same game on that same server =/ .. this is jus my own thought so what do you guys think? im somewhat of noob so please bare with me if what im saying sounds stupid im jus thinking out loud =]
