Thats the thing with lower quality media, the disks in a pack will range in quality, and while that doesnt matter for most applications (burning movies, data disks, media etc...) it does matter when it comes to 360 games.
I'd say you got lucky in getting a disk that worked out of your memorex's. I had a brand new burner and it had a coaster rate of like 2:1 with memorex's.
I also had an older burner that had trouble writing to all kinds of disks and I had a coaster rate of like 8:1.
So once you get your verbatim's from ebay if the first one doesnt work, it may be your burner, how old is it, how much use has it had? Burner's laser's wear out quickly if you do alot of burning with them.

Hello HaGGardSmurf,
It was actually the Sony disc that was successful in the end.
My burner is approaching its 4 year mark, which is an extremely long life if you ask me. (It is used rarely as I originally picked it up just so my laptop wouldn't have to do any burns)
It will need replacing sooner rather than later. Is there a certain model that is favored to the experts around here?
(economical of course! lol)
One quick side question....What is the best / most efficient method for backing up my original games? Sometimes I start reading tutorials , then when I get down to the bottom I realize I am studying something from 2007.
I am so thankful once again & as I said would like to give something in return.
Best Reagrds

Should I follow the tut on youtube?
I have the 0800 sammy firmware - do I have to merge anything in JF, or can I just flash the sammy with the 0800/ .bin file in dosflash?

that would work
as long as you use the programs im using
you can also do it with jungle flasher
if you have a via chipset sata in your pc
that could give you some trouble with jungle flasher

As for the new burner, any will do just fine.
Lots of people swear by pioneer's but Ive used LG, hitachi, and samsung burner's (brand new) and they all work amazingly.
4 years old, that may be part of the problem right there, if you get a couple coaster's out of a 30 pack its not a huge issue, but when you start getting 7 or 8 coaster's I'd replace that burner.
