HaGGardSmurf wrote:Yep, power on the 360, and that will power on the drive.

You can ejecting the tray, pulling the power cable from the back of the drive, then pushing the tray closed a little bit more than half way (about 2/3) and then putting the power cable back in. Now you can try to find it in the drop down, cycle through all the port's listed and see if you can find it.

If not, you can try switching sata port's if you have another one free try it.

You can also try iprep, it may be able to find the drive.

what will ejecting the drive half way have to do with getting it to recognize? just asking

im really in need of direct assistance here, i will pay someone $30 paypal if they can help me with this by phone, skype, or a remote viewing program. sadilus has first dibbs, if someone is available now, great, but i really need to get this done before i leave tomorrow or i wont have a computer to do it on.

i have the computer on now, 360 drive is connected to another sata port on my motherboard, 360 is powered on, i messed up a flash last time doing this, i dont want to repeat that again.

Update:

Great news, the drive has just been recognized on my Windows XP setup. Jungleflasher sees it.

Tray half way put's it in vendor mode, I'm not sure if vendor mode work's with ixtreme on the drive or not, but it's a bit of a trick to get the drive recognized.

If JF recognizes it, use the dummy from ixtreme command, and see if JF can dump the drive.

k i see what u mean. i clicked that button and i just saved like 4 files. now it asks, "Lite-On firmware loaded to source buffer , do you wish to load lite-on i-xtreme?"

From Jungleflasher: "Dummy.bin file saved to Dummy.bin

Your going to want to load up ixtreme LT+ 1.1 as target, and hit spoof source to target.

After that your going to proceed to flashing.

Be careful when your unplugging the drive power cable, pull both sides out at the same time. Pulling one end out and not the other could result in your drive getting fried.

So what your going to do is go to the mtk tab, hit lite-on erase, it'll give you a warning, your going to press yes, then yes again, and power cycle the drive off then on.

So what that means is, when it gives you the first prompt, your going to need to put your hand on the power cable at the back of the drive. After you hit yes to the second prompt, pull the power cable out. Now wait about 1 second and plug the cable back in.

Your should get a 0x72 status, and your drive properties should show up on the right side.

If not, if it fails your going to want to use the intro command. (Press intro, unplug power, plug it back in) If that doesn't work, try sending the erase command again, and unplugging, plugging power back in.

Yikes, that's a lot to remember all in one sitting.

I might need a bit more of a break down. After dumping the files , what do I do now? let's try to do it one step at a time. easier for me that way

where do i find this ixtreme? is this the new version that supports ap25 backups?

(Make sure your drive is recognized, and you have the correct port selected, also, if your mouse cursor switches to the 'dvd loading' icon, dont start the flashing process because windows has identified the drive, and if you erase it, windows will probably lock up)

Flashing:

You should have your source and target firmware all loaded up in the first tab of jungle flasher, so JF knows what firmware to flash.

Another thing is to make sure you've plugged in the AV cables. If you dont have them plugged in your xbox will power on, but give you the 4 red light's flashing, that's fine, but it will automatically turn itself off after a few minutes.

1) Go to the MTK flash tab
2) Eject the tray and push it in half way
3) Make sure you can see your drive under drive properties
4) Hit lite-on Erase
5) Hit yes to the first message box, then yes again to the second one.
6) Now pull the drive power cable out from the back of the dvd drive
7) Now plug the cable back in.
8) Now hit the write command
9) Once finished, hit the outro/ata reset and your ready to test the drive.

If you did not get 0x72 status after the flash, and it say's intro failed in the jungle flasher log, your going to send the intro command again.

So hit intro/device ID and unplug your drive power, then plug it back in. You should get 0x72 status and your drive listed on the right side of jungle flasher. If not repeat step's 4 - 7 again.

Here is a video: http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... 195&t=7783" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Fast forward to about 2:30 as you've already dumped the drive. (Jungle flasher might look a little bit different for you, as your version is newer than shootsteel's but thats nothing to worry about)

Yep, like cofree said, there should be a delay between step 7 and 8. After 7 wait for your drive to be listed on the right side of JF, and it should say drive in vendor mode on the left side.

Then you can write.

Also like cofree said, it is a pain to power cycle with the 360 as a power supply, but as I listed below if you dont do it fast enough you'll get a 0x00 status and need to redo it.

does it mean the drive is locked when you can't open it by pushing the eject button and the 360 light just keeps blinking?

if it is the case, can the drive be fixed? i ordered a new liteon drive for him to put in just in case.
