I'm going to kick it out the window
Re: I'm going to kick it out the window
Only other thing I could think of would be the drive for the sata card itself. Make sure that your using the latest driver and if you have one, try a different sata cable. I doubt the cable is bad, but you never know. Could be getting enough signal through to recognize the drive, but when it actually puts the load of reading or writing on the cable, well, you get the picture.

I would definitely do your power up without the 360 if possible. I think it simplifies things and takes one more variable out of the mix. I've even used the power supply out of one of my xbox1's to power it with the connectivity kit v1 before I got an old power supply out of a computer.

Cool. I can do it with a hitachi but Im worried about using kit v2 on my benq. The reason being, the kit has all these switches specifically for hitachi (modeb, etc). Do I need to leave modeb off and the eject button off and just use the on/off switch?
Also, I'll crap my face off if this matters but...
The guide says...
Turn on the Xbox 360 and wait 2 or more seconds, status toggles between 0x51 and 0xD1
Turn off the Xbox 360 and wait 2 or more seconds, status will stay at 0xD1.
Turn on the Xbox 360, you should get a good drive status 0x73 and reading should begin automatically.
I haven't really been strictly following the 2 seconds...is timing that important? I am still getting to 0x73 and then it fails at the reading bank 0...

Yes and yes on the mode B and eject button. use only the on/off switch. basically just powers it on and off that way.BobSeager wrote:Cool. Follow the guides a strictly as you can. There are some things that seem meaningless that are the key to the whole process. If it says to wait 2 or more seconds than you probably should. I'm not saying thats the problem, but sometimes its the simplest things that seem to cause the most trouble.

Cool. Its a great guide (makes it like so easy). I was worried about the timing because '2 or more....' is a bit vague and like you said, these things can be crucial.
Should I try dosflash or is iprep the best even tho I'm having bugs...

yes man timing is every thing.
it just 2 sec
if you don't do the 10sec trick right on the samsung you would never get in the drive to flash.
as jman said do it as close to guide as you can.

Won't hurt to try the other method. Just make sure that you check your dumped firmware with fw toolbox before you proceed to the flashing step.

Go in your bios and set to default setting.BobSeager wrote:@#(*$()## I'm now getting an "Internal Stacks error...config.sys' when I turn the drive on...
I think that should help that.
Re: I'm going to kick it out the window
After you get to dos and type in the command to read the firmware, is your drive powered on or off prior to issuing the read the firmware?

I tun it on to toggle,
then off,
then on to read the firmware and then it pauses on the reading bank 0

Re: I'm going to kick it out the window
Turn it on as soon as you get to dos. Let it sit for a few seconds, give the command to read, it should ask you to press Y to resend, hit y and enter. Status should switch between the two status codes. Turn off the drive, wait 5 seconds, turn it back on. It should start reading.
