Thank you CoFree and Sadalius for all of your help. I guess this is part of the learning curve. Would the info I need be in the original.bin I saved or do you have to read it from the drive itself? This is a great site and you provide everyone with a great service. Keep up the good work.

Your drive key should be in the original.bin file. If you get a replacement drive you'll need that file so you can get the key from that original.bin file and put it into the firmware of your new drive.

Well, I 'm back again. I read all of the links you recommended at least 3 times, some more. I took a Samsung DVD drive and spoofed it to the Hitachi 0078FK. Everything went as planned. I replaced the Samsung in the XBox 360 and it plays Movies just great. When I load a game, it freezes just a few seconds into the game. No matter what game i put in. They are all original games no backups. Has this something to do with the spoofed key and maybe it isn't working right? I'm about ready to drop kick this 360 into the next county. I figure the key from the Hitachi is being read OK because it loads and shows movies. Thanks.

Nope, you can strip the key out of the firmware and it will still play movies just fine.

List the steps you took to spoof the samsung to the hitachi for me. From the sound of it, it's not the key or it wouldn't be just freezing up. If it was something to do with the firmware being spoofed it would give you an error message when you booted the 360. If it were the key, it would give you the message, to play this game, put it in an xbox 360.

One quick question. If this Samsung drive was being used in another Xbox and was flashed to replace a bad drive, should I take this drive back to it's original state, and how would i do that before I started this?

you can flash over the top of a flash in a samsung drive.
just start from the beginning with iprep
now if you are going to use it in a different console
its different you would need the new console dvd drive key.
