hey, ok back with an update and sad to say i have tried 2 different atx power supplys and bridged them to power my kit, but for some unknown reason i still get the same reaction form my kit

(no led's r on untill i press my eject button then the blue led lights up but doesnt no eject my lit-on drive)....is there a way i can check to see if there is power going to my drive at all...im not sure what to think of my kit because it reacts the same way but works with my old hitachi drive but not with my lite-on ....should i hook everything up and try to continue with a iprep flash or what...thanks for all the help so far but is there anything else i could try or do.....

Sounds like your ck3 kaput mate. There was supposedly a problem with certain on off switches with a small batch of them. You could try testing the switch with a continuity tester if you have one. Does it work ok when you have no drive attached to it. Blue led on constant etc? i'd hazard a guess and say one of the resistors is knackered. Might be worth getting in touch with the company you bought it from and see if they'll send you a replacement.

hey, well that would just be my luck lol....and ya it reacts the same when there is no drive plugged into it...i also looked over the kit and found nothing to look damaged or burnt but thats not saying that there isnt....and does the little black thing below your ON/OFF switch get realy hot, i found that when the led's were off that little black thing got reallly hot and i burnt my thumb on it lol....would that cause any issues or interfierence...also is there a way to check and see if my drive is getting power at all from the kit.

You shouldn't have felt any heat at all when the leds were off as that indicates the ck3 was turned off. Sounds suspiciously like your on off switch is arcing out. you could solder it off and connect the 2 pins to see if that solves it.To check if there was any power getting through to the drive you could use a multimeter and check the dvd power lead for voltage.
Edit: seems that you're not the only one with this problem mate

if the four pins on the left are connected (2 left and 2 centre)should be off and the four to the right (2 right and 2 centre) it should be on as i think the switch hits 4 pins. If you have a continuity meter you could check that the connections are working.
someone else with the same problem, sounds exactly the same as yours

hey, ok thanks for the fourm links..it would be nice to see that guy post back and see if his new kit works, i have looked over those forums and my kit and would like a little advise hear lol....i really dont feel like having to send my kit back and wait for another one but i will if i have to

...so is there a was i can bridge or join anything the just bypass the on/off function and make it always on to see if the led will always stay on no matter what...and if these is what steps would i have to take..but if u think it would be to riskey i guess i could get in touch with modchip.ca..but i would rather experiment first lol...and its good to no im not alone on this one

Probably better off getting a replacement as you would void your entitlement for one if you soldered the switch off. I'd contact them first and see if they'll swap it for you. If they won't you could remove the switch and solder a new one on if you're handy with a soldering iron. I'm the same as you though and i can't stand waiting for anything.lol
