that's definitely mode b,..
I would try different discs, I always use a dual layer movie. Make sure you wait 20 seconds after you've closed the drive as well before you try the read...
Other than that, I'd go for the card

What u think about doing Classic dump instead of Raw? and also wat do u think about using the ixtreme1.4_Hitachi_c4eva_rev1 software? I read that the ixtreme1.4_Hitachi... software automatically dump the original and hacked fw once u enter the 360's drive letter, my question about that is how do i know if the dump is a good one? does it give a key, and if so how cud i see the key to make sure that it is good?
Thx

man have a look here.
viewtopic.php?f=110&t=322" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
with the hit drive it dont erase the key from the drive.
but
it does save a was, now, key and the firmware files.
you can look at your key with jungle
start jungle> firmware tool32 tad > load source firmware
then go to your was file.
it will show you the info.
that video is the easiest way for flashing a older hit dvd drive

Ok, so i watched it and i understand it, however something still not clear to me. I assume that ur using ixtreme1.4_Hitachi_c4eva_rev1 software? U first restored the drive to its factory state before re-flashing. U thn hit the FLASHIX.BAT file and entered ur drive's letter, it then automatically dumped ur drives information (key, was and now.bin file) wat i want to know tho, will i be able to view those .bin files before the drive is flashed, just want to make sure that the key is correct and i can restore if needed. By the way if the flash is finished and the .bin info is invalid cud i use the restore to get it back to factory?
Thx

Hey guys i think im getting it, i chose the classic option and it dumped the information, i got a key and it looks good (NOT occurring Fs and 0s). Im at the part now that asks to start the flashing process. Shud i go ahead???? In the Flash invoker section i chose 47flash.exe instead of internal flasher being that i have the hit 47 drive. Go ahead?

I always do 2 dumps of the firmware and check the key is identical in both, just to be sure... If this isn't the first time you've flashed the drive, run the restore first...
as cofree says, go with the flashIX.bat that's packaged with the firmware. That will give you the 3 files he mentioned. Make sure you keep those files safe (email them to yourself, put them on cd, whatever you wanna do)...
I'm a little weary of the older hitachi drives, as I bricked my first 47dj. It just died on me halfway through the flash, couldn't even get it to open. As always though, if you have a good key backed up you can replace/spoof the drive with another one.

Kool thx man. Its working fine tho, no need to restore or anything, just that it froze after selecting Start Flashing. I think its because i had chosen the 47flasher.exe option from the drop down menu in 360FW_Toolbox, I think I should have went with the Internal Flasher instead. I then tried using the ixtreme1.4_Hitachi... software and ran the flashix.bat file while the 360FW_Toolbox was still frozen and it froze too.
Im going to try it later using the 360FW_Toolbox agin just to dump the info again to verify that the key is indeed correct, after i'll use ixtreme1.4_Hitachi to flash. What do u guys think?? Worth a try??
Thx

don't mean to sound rude but, you are following the the following tutorial right? viewtopic.php?f=110&t=322
the reason i ask is because this is the correct one to follow. additionally, it's the same one i used. if you do a search (hopefully you did) you'll also find sadalius tutorial on how to do so as well which is also the same one i used. as long as you go step by step you should be golden otherwise i dont know what to tell you unless of course the drives were bricked or defective in general in the 1st place. good luck
btw, forgot to mention that sadilius tutorial does mention to put in a game into the drive; there's no need for that just follow cofrees vid tutorial listed above as that completely bypasses that as again there's no need. just thought i'd let you know as to avoid any confusion you were having.

Sometimes you do have to put a game or movie in. I always just go ahead and do it. That way, when firmware toolbox scans the drive and if it does pop a box up asking for it, it's already in there and I don't have to go digging. Thats why I wrote my tut that way. To save someone from having to dig up a game or a movie in case it did ask for it.
