Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
I've already found it and tried it.CoFree wrote:the new RHPG iprep v9 is out (in the program thread) and the video guides are up for it.
It keeps going back to the same screen.
Doesnt go to the screen where it tells you what to do to your drive.
What am i doing wrong?
I type dLit 1234567 12345
power the kit on, open the tray, power off, close half way, place probe.
Press enter.
it says "Ensure your Lite-On drive is ON and Connected to COM1."(it is)
Press enter to continue.
it displays

If so its because i am using Vista 64bit, which means the PortIO drivers are not supported and can not connect the drive to the computer.
I am using the current iPrep v9 that i downloaded from this site.
Also used iPrep 008.8, 008.9, v9.
Used 008.8 successfully to dump and flash my samsung drive, which is slowly dieing as we speak.
after i press any key to continue i get:
THE SCREEN I AM GETTING:

THIS IS THE SCREEN I AM NOT GETTING:
4:20 seconds into cofree's video tutorial here.

Thanks for everyone's help so far.
This is really frustrating .

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
I know some people report using Vista 64 bit as having no problems but imo it's more hassle than its worth with these programs. Is there no way you can get access to an xp machine?

Not one with a SATA.dalecheesy wrote:I know some people report using Vista 64 bit as having no problems but imo it's more hassle than its worth with these programs. Is there no way you can get access to an xp machine?

I have created iPrep on 2 xp 32bit machines though.
It didnt help.
Why would it not work with only the lite-on?
My samsung has absolutely no problems.

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Might be worth trying your r232 cable in another comport to check thats it not kaput (as only the liteons require this which may explain why you've been able to flash other makes). Also go into your bios and check that they're set to automatic and not disabled.

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
iprep does not support 64bit os
so when iprep is building the flash drive something is going wrong
for it to show you the dir like that
sorry man

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Leads me to think you might have a problem with either your ck3 serial port or the r232 lead? Are you using a male to female r232 or a null r232 lead one (which wouldn't work)xXxnottaxXx wrote:I've tried it on 4 different machines (2 xp 32bits, 1 Vista 64bit, 1 Windows7 64bit)
Same result on each machine.

and what am i looking for in the bios?
My CPU supports both 32 and 64 bit.CoFree wrote:iprep does not support 64bit os

It runs any 32bit app normally.

I dont know what a null r232 lead is, i do know the cable has both a male and female end.dalecheesy wrote: Leads me to think you might have a problem with either your ck3 serial port or the r232 lead? Are you using a male to female r232 or a null r232 lead one (which wouldn't work)
Any ideas?CoFree wrote: man

My computer is detecting the drive.

Im going to uninstall and reinstall iPrep, see if maybe DosFlash.exe got corrupted.

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
cofree means that if you run iprep the application off of lets say Vista or XP 64bit iprep has a slim chance of working on the odd occasion it does but its not made for it. Yes your CPU may support both 32 and 64 bit OS / and the apps that go along with but if you have Vista 64bit then the applications you run are 64bit no 32bit whatsoever...unless u try to and get errors up the wahzzooo

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Oh ok i gotcha now.
So could i use an iPrep that was made on another 32bit machine without a SATA port and use it on the computer with the SATA port?
Or for that mater run something under 32bit linux?

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
which ever computer you plan to flash your drive with should be the computer that you set up your iPrep bootlable flash drive with. meaning iprep should be on the computer you use to flash the drive with. . .
