Nothing happens when I power off and on, the tray stays open. Yes the kit is knackered - A fuse may have blown on it. I think the drive may be also.

Nope - Chances are likely that the drive is fried, since no power at all runs through it - even from the xbox supply. Looks like i'm gonna need a new drive "doh"

Shame about that,

You did say that you have your original key didnt you?? if so does it look good?? you can spoof it into a samsung drive or a benq they are the easiest also you can get away with using your 360 to power it. At least then you could save your self another £25 in buying another connectivity kit.

these are the models:

benq VAD6038
samsung MS28

in your 1st post you said you had a MS25 drive, you can spoof that in if you wanted

open jungle flasher
1) click load source firmware -- load your firmware from your lite-on drive
2) click no to the box that comes up
3)click open target firmware -- select samsung samsumg firmware
4) click spoof source to target.
5) check that the drive key is the same in both boxes.
6)click save to file save the file as SAMCFW.bin

7) make a bootable usb via iprep
8) inside your usb you will find a folder named "backups" open it
9) inside that folder make a new folder call it 1234567
10)inside that folder make another called 12345
11) copy the bin file that you made with JF then paste it into the folder named 12345

"should look like this backups\1234567\12345 "
---------------------------------------------------------
Shut down Pc.
run a sata cable from your 360drive to your primary port on your sata card.
leave the power off to your drive.

Boot up PC

when you get to the c:\ prompt
power on your drive and make sure your sata is connected
Type this

fsam 1234567 12345
Then follow the on screen prompts

When the option comes up you want to write to the drive.

when it asks the name of your firmware tupe this samcfw.bin

you can use your 360 to power the drive, you can turn it off and on when you need to power cycle the drive.
When doing it put your Av cable in as some times the 360 powers down when the av aint it.

if you done that right it will work

just tried to flahs the samsung and I get to the same stage previously.

Just freezes here
http://i44.tinypic.com/v3itmh.jpg

Which suggests to me its something to do with the computer hardware rather than anything related to 360 drives. So my lite-on could still be alive! - What drivers should I be using for the via? Default or portio32?

you shouldnt need any drivers if your using Iprep just as long as you have a suitable sata ports, with jungle flasher your best disable in the via drivers and using the portio32

Im not the best with JF never realy used it that much always done IPREP
