Ok, I got my via card and I can now see the dvd drive on JF and everything checks out. Now when I put the probe in the r707 hole and push the get key button on JF i keep getting serial data is bad. is my probe gone?? Ive tried to bridge r707 with a screwdriver and keep getting the same thing over and over.

Im beating my head into the wall trying to figure this out. I cant seem to pull the key no matter which way I go. JF says serial data is bad everytime using the probe or even bridging with a screwdriver. Its showing the lite-on drive on my via sata card and if I have the usb plugged in it shows it on com 5 and ready.

I tried the mod disc and same problems, I cant get the key with the probe or screwdriver bridge,

I tried iprep v9 and followed the tutorial and same thing when I get to extracting the key. This is driving me nutz!! And Im worried if i keep tryin the screwdriver ill eat away the solder points, since they are pretty worn already. Ive scraped the green away from the r707 hole and that hasnt worked. I have noticed that when I push the probe into/on r707 the green light dims instead of being bright, unsure why but I cant seem to get it bright. Does anyone have any suggestions? or do I move to soldering the points together next?

If I have to solder do i just do r707? Can I leave it when im done with the key or do I have to break the point again? I dont really want to go this way because I cant solder so Ill have to bring it up to my dad LOL but if thats what I have to do then Ill do it. Last thing I want to do is brick my friends drive after I said I would mod it......damn lite-ons, only drives that are giving me problems.

Thanks

I've had issues where bridging didn't work for me either so I would take a wire tie and strip it down on each ends take one lead to the R707 hole and the other to the nearest ground. (See earlier posts for ground) and that's pretty much how i've done all lite-ons since.

That didnt work also......I think im throwing in the towel for the time being on lite-ons. I just cant figure out why its not working and Im doing everything by the book. Who knows, maybe ill try a different one in a week or so and it'll work lol.

well don't give up on that one or if you really want to you can always send it to one of the staff. I know sadalius does it for most of the us even as far away as Hawaii, he's in KY, and I'm in TX. He's one of the most experienced and knowledgeable so it might be worth a shot.

Well theres a guy locally here in seattle that I brought mine to before I decided to start doing it myself for people. Ive had this guys xbox for about a week or so now, Im just gonna give it back to him for now and do some more research on the liteons to see if theres something i missed before I get it back from him again. Its that damn "serial data is bad" message thats put the brakes on. Does it mean my serial cable is bad? (although I got the same msg when using usb) Id rather not pay to get someone elses xbox done if you know what i mean.

sorry to bump an old thread but im having the same problems. im using the connectivity kit and the probe and i can find the drive through the bios but cant find it in jungle flasher, and i think i fried my probe. i had it in the R707 hole and lightly brushed something on the drive and now both lights stay on. also my COM 3 only comes up sometimes and i cant get it back up now. im wondering if breaking the probe had something to do with it. also this is my first drive so i may be overlooking something simple.

EDIT: just figured it out. i had ioport32 installed wrong so i had to go and manually install it and then everything came up. when i tried the auto install it said i had already installed it but when i looked for it i couldnt find it. kinda wired but w/e its working now.
