CoFree is 100% right. XBMC, different dashboards, linux, you name it. They had it for the xbox and it was all made by normal people and was free of charge. It was cool then and would be just as cool if not sweeter on the 360.

Ha ha. Normal people. Best joke yet.
Seriously though. HomeBrew will bring a whole new class of games too, some crap and some that are just pure genious. It's happening on mobile platforms. Google's Android, Iphone, these are platforms opened up to the "normal" people and it show's in a very positive way.
Given that the XNA is released free I can see something like iPhones cydia appearing. All those live games that M$ said no too.
The only down side to unlocking homebrew is that it could open cheating on live. Yes autofire hex edited games ARE a bad thing :p
Bring the brew!

Homebrew is the best thing about modding. It sucks that its not being done publicly on the 360. I guess its good that its not, because COD 4, Cod 5, and halo 3 would be loaded with modders that think theyre awesome cause they have the highest rank.
You can download the tool free, but doesnt M$ make you sell that game at a minimum of 200 MS points? I havent seen a free game, they are all 200 points.

Klutsh you are absolutely right, hex editing for cheating sucks, I hate going into a fight knowing that I'm not equally equipped for the battle. On the other hand, with Games on Demand this gives us a real chance to play games from our hard drive with out disc. We will know be able to see how games are stored when installed to the hard drive and may be able to install any game to the hdd and not need to download it. And we all know how much we've been craving for just that.

xZool sent us this news and video:
I can confirm that the hack that was announced is fully working. This is a quick test setup but it clearly shows the console directly boots into Xell. Doesn't look too spectacular, but people who know what this means will know it is!
I used a Cygnos v2 sample i got (thanks!) and flashed the hack on the cygnos NAND. The original NAND was untouched. I can now boot either the hack or my NXE dash
I opened a virgin box for that. No DVD hack, nothing. Just flashed it onto that Cygnos NAND and bingo...
my congratulations to all involved!

Well, it was made by what I consider normal people That would be anyone not working for M$
Anybody could do it, just had to get the XDK and learn some coding.
