Hey sorry Dude I forgot to mention that detail. The Xbox would still play backed up DVD/CDR but the frame rate was awful for the few minutes that I watched. It did that on previous times and then eventually would not play it at all. In the haste to get it working I did not spend any more time on it and just proceeded to take the blater apart.

Hey,

three days now since I pulled the Xblaster NE out of my system and everything is fine. All backups/originals and DVD's are playing great with now issues. Just in case anyone else encounters the same problem. The pain in the ass now will be everytime I need to update the flash I will have to open up the unit.

sounds like you found the problem man.
it not that bad taking then apart.you will only need to update if there is a need.just because a new firmware comes out you dont have to update.

How long have you had the blaster? I would be trying to send it back if it hasn't been to long. I didn't read all the posts in this thread so if this has already been discussed then never mind.
