Are you sing a ck3? If you are, make sure the mode led is red, this should send your 59 into mode b automatically. It is important for the drive to be listed in device manager before you dump/flash...
In jf, are any other methods selectable like mode select?
It might be worth trying it on a different pc (almost all onboard Sata works with hitachis)
hope you can get it going, sounds like your close :p

No am not using ck3. Drive is in mode b listed in device manager...
mode select and ram upload and are available. Classic is only available at dump.
Maybe it's worth the try to use another pc(when i have one) bc i can't restore it right now still get the read back mis-compare or Drive rev undetermined, Aborting! OR Ram Execute Failed...

They are fussy things, the older hitachis...
If you can't get it to work, do yourself a favour and get an ms 28. All around the best drive for me

Yeah, it seemed fine when I looked at it in your log... make sure you make a copy of the firmware in multiple places, that key is everything!
If the drive is still opening and closing you should be able to find a pc to flash it with successfully. I think if mode select doesn't work with the one you're on, go for another pc, see how it reacts.
Good luck, and keep us posted

great stuff, glad you got it... portIO is specifically for the VIA cards, so it makes sense that worked above the others. job well done dude
