Ban Wave
Re: Ban Wave
So, just a little bit of information... since everywhere I read it appears that nobody can determine why/how people are getting banned from xbox live.....
Every person I know that has been banned from xbox live (which is up to like 8 or 9 now), has turned on their xbox... and signed into xbox live, then immediately gotten a large/LONG update... that took about 10 minutes or so to perform. Once the update finished, within hours or the following day they recieved the banned message.
I myself have not been banned, nor has one of my friends. We're both running 1.6, and don't get our games from torrents or anything like that. We rip our own games, and immedaitely run them through the correct way using abgx. We also make sure not to put any games into our consoles that havent been released yet. Hell, we don't even play games that were JUST released. With that said, we also have not recieved the large/LONG update. Everyone else that we've talked to and was banned, has.
The common item here is that long update... and the only thing I can think of is that it scans the system or something for the firmware. Maybe the firmware is not detectable on everyday TYPICAL use, but MAYBE this long update is able to check for it...
Ask anyone who was banned, and I guarantee you they did this large update (not to be confused with the 30 second updates for new games you play).

Re: Ban Wave
Well i have recieved that long update you talk about. supposedly it was for compatability for some new wireless adapter thats coming out. It did take about 10 minutes and that was a couple of days b4 ban wave started. I have yet to be banned so i dont think that has anything to do with it.
Re: Ban Wave
naw i downloaded the long update and didnt get banned.....it was only today that i did.....i have 1.6fw......my buddy have 1.61 and didnt get banned( the @55hole is playing codmwf2 as im typing this lol).....fw maybe ?
Re: Ban Wave
Hello all!
Just want to post my experience for hopes of helping with the research. I have 1.61 flashed on my samsung (vad), and all my games are updated with abgx and taken from originals. With that being said, I was sceptical with playing my MW2, and tonight at around 12:30am cst I logged on xbl with an original disc, and upon connection I immediately got a ban message!!
I hadn't been connected to xbl for quite some time...
The only advice I can give is to not go online AT ALL with your modded console until what is going on has been figured out, and a fix is available for it. Otherwise you run the risk of banning your console.

Re: Ban Wave
you can't fix or stop from be banned. ms have the list of people xbox 360 mod and there wait in the fall time to start banned people because x-mas is 6 week away and banned people now. so people have to go out and buy xbox for x-mas
Re: Ban Wave
Incorrect....
You CAN do things to avoid being banned... particularly:
-Don't play games that aren't released in YOUR REGION yet...
-Don't play games that aren't released PERIOD
-Don't play burned games ONLINE
-Don't hack game save files to give you special things like additional ammo and etc.
-Don't play ANY game that isn't supposed to be able to work on xbox's in your region
-Run ALL games you play through ABGX using level 3 w/ autofix and anydvd style checking, and if it fails at any point don't use the disc in your xbox
Now, is that a guarantee you won't be banned? No, of course not... but since NOBODY has come up with any proof of how Microsoft is checking consoles for bans you can only do your best to be safe.
Now, if you do get banned... YES you can get your console unbanned. Contrary to popular belief, you can extract the nand.bin file from a non-banned console (red ringed that you might buy from let's say... Ebay for cheap), and then place the key information from the nand.bin on the non-banned console onto the one that is banned and it will again work on xbox live. It's been done.... many, many times.
Google xbox 360 keyvault swap.

Re: Ban Wave
This is not the update i'm referring to... but thanks for the reply.XxHTOWNUTZxX wrote:Well i have recieved that long update you talk about. supposedly it was for compatability for some new wireless adapter thats coming out. Everyone I know that was banned, recieved the normal wireless compatability update a little bit ago... but then they also recently recieved a longer (10 min+) update, and every single person was banned within hours to a day after. Those that were banned a day after simply were not playing the rest of the day before.
Re: Ban Wave
I wish people would stop thinking that unhooking your xbox from the internet will keep you from getting banned when you play an early release or a burnt game. It doesnt matter if you disconnect your internet, HD, memory stick, brain.....as soon as you connect to live again your xbox sends any/all of the information back out, theres an internal memory that stores this stuff....atm i cant remember the name cuz its late, but everyone needs to understand that it wont help you avoid bans or being spotted.

I'm not sure if this has already been posted. I apologise if it has.
#fw chan - [c4eva] new fw in dev/test - ixtreme LT (Lite Touch) - more efficient, minimal patching, fw indistinguishable from orig
So yeah, it is the firmware they are detecting after all.

Re: Ban Wave
Good post, except for the part where you say the firmware is what they were detecting. Did you miss c4eva's post about how the firmware previously was stll indetectable?jimmy j wrote:I'm not sure if this has already been posted. I apologise if it has.

Even c4eva doesn't know how they are finding people at this point...
