If some people, as they claim, only play their own backups. What's really the point in flashing in the first place?? Seems pointless to me.

Got my ban too today or maybe yesterday. Dunno 4 sure... didn't expect it cause i'm that kinda guy who checks his games like 10 times before playing... anyways i was on a ix 1.51, never played before release date not even offline. And always double checked with abgx the right way... so I am a little bit curious about the ban cause.

New xbox next week yaaaay!

Just read through 15 pages of posts. So M$ is sending for drive response then the time it takes for your drive to reponed is how they are detecting that your box is modded. So if I leave my box open and have one drive with ofw and a clone drive with cfw, then when there is a update I power down swap drives and power on and update then power off and swap again I should be fine? What do you guys think? I know its not all updates just the big long updates. I am preaty sure thats how I got banned. Got big update then two days later was banned. I have my old box that has not been baned. It is a ms28 if I return it to ofw and swap my HDD when they send update like I think they will my drive should send a good response right? Or because its benn altered before I will still be hit?

some people really just do it so they don't ruin the original disc. . .

Figure I would give me 2 cents on this whole deal with the banning. I have 2 x-boxs that were just modded up to the latest firmware and all that. I plugged one in the other day and was told this game needed an update or I would be kicked off xbox live so I updated it needless to say I was banned. I did notice on my hard drive that mine and my bros game tags were labeled as corrupted. So I decided to go out buy a new hard drive and start all over with a new gamer tag and xbox live account. Once again I put in a game and it said again I needed an update for this game didnt update this time instead I went and rented a game to use as a test. I inserted it was told to update and I did update goes through and I am playin on live no problem. I put in my copy of CoD 2 right after then update screen comes up again for it. So it seems the rumor is true that MS is sending out a signal to your game to get a response to see if you are using a legit game. I put a good game back in and no screen came up for an update

this helped me out so i thought id post it here to help others out also..

"So people do not lose their saves:

1. On a non-banned 360, turn on your console with a memory unit that does NOT contain your corrupted game profile.
2. Recover your XBL profile to a memory card on your non-banned console
3. Turn your non-banned console off.
4. Plug in your hard drive/memory card with your corrupted saves to your non-banned console.
5. Go to System settings -> Memory -> (your “corrupted” memory unit) -> Gamer Profiles and select your corrupted profile.
6. Select delete and make sure you select DELETE PROFILE ONLY. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR SAVES
7. Turn your console off
8. Put it your memory unit with your “corrupt” saves
9. Also insert your memory unit with the gamertag you recovered from XBL earlier
10. System settings -> Memory -> (memory unit with recovered gamertag) -> Move -> Your gamertag
11. Move your gamertag to your Memory unit with your previously corrupt saves and you should be good to go."

someone on another forum had this to say as well which i dont agree with but i flashed my 360 without a CK3 so i cant really comment on this but im sure other can.. he had this to say...

"My research indicates it's not wave 4 and most peolple banned used abgx . I think more than likely it's the e74 (or whatevea it'z called) flag that 360's log when u power up minus the SATA plug to the drive. I'm basing this on info gathered from several forums some ppl had just flashed their consoles w/ 1.6 and only played orig. If this is the case I thinks it's the only think M$ have left to throw at modders."

then you have missed the whole point in doing a true "back-up"

let me tell you a story about a 8 year old girl. ;)
She just had to have a new game.so i picked it up for her
took it home, and as life has tough me safety first
i made a backup of the new game. :P
The game had never even been in a 360.
Well in a hour or so the backup was done and the 8 year old (who had been bouncing off the walls) came running over to get the game.
She has her own 360 in her room.
At this point i tell her dont run be careful.I could tell it went in one ear and out the other.
She turned around took 1 step drop the game disc (backup) and stepped on it just that fast.Well the disc broke.
It all happened in the blink of a eye.
She turned around with the horrific look on her face.

I being the loving father i am.
did not make a sound turned around and put a blank DL disc in and started the burn all over again. :D
then turning around I said lovingly to her.
dont worry, it will be ready in about 30 min.
the last thing i saw was her huge small and she was gone to bounce of the wall for the next 30 min :D
true story

Contrary to popular belief, you can extract the nand.bin file from a non-banned console (red ringed that you might buy from let's say... Ebay for cheap), and then place the key information from the nand.bin on the non-banned console onto the one that is banned and it will again work on xbox live. It's been done.... many, many times. Google xbox 360 keyvault swap.
Guys if you are reading this, do not even think about if you've been playing online anytime soon! When the NXE update was released and YOU downloaded it so you could keep playing online then you cannot perform the keyvault swap anymore. This was possible through a security hole in the bios that WAS patched via NXE! I'm sorry if you were given false hope!
Where did you read this? Surely this is not true, as you can upgrade/downgrade the kernel.... lol.

heh, thats what i've been trying to tell these knuckleheads lol. There's a big long update that's doing it. They're sending it out as a result of something they see, but the long update is whats checking for the firmware discrepency
