Hey guys,
My console has only been modded for a week before the banwave (benq ix1.6). So far I haven't been banned but I've been keeping a low profile and staying off it for the most part. If the rumor is true and MS has to query the drive a few times to decided whether it's been modded, I'm hoping they won't gather enough data on my xbox to decide to ban it.
That being said, I'm considering rolling back to my original firmware but I'm wondering if putting the drive into mode b would that flag me? I noticed a few people here upgraded to ix1.61 and were IMMEDIATELY banned. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the processes of flashing the drive rather than the firmware itself.
I know some testing is currently being done, and I was wondering if the process of flashing the drive flags people instantly?

If the console is banned, but you check for the ban ahead of time using the technique posted earlier in this thread (page 2 or 3 I think) the console will never know its banned and won't break the HDD, and will still be useable for system link and streaming music.
okay, but with that logic the console is still BANNED. . . just because the console doesn't know it's banned doesn't mean it's not banned. the fact that you're no longer going to go online to escape the inevitable just signifies that is banned. . .
the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence, just because you don't have proof that something does exist, doesn't mean you have proof that something does exist. . . lol!

You will be able to avoid having your console's functions crippled. That is the point trailz is making. Sure, you will be limited to playing offline, but you will still be able to install games to HDD and stream using Windows Media Centre (you can't do that once you have received the ban message)
Banned + crippled or Pre-banned + fully functional - take your pick.

Where is this technique?

That'll tell you if the ban is waiting for you on the other side, but once you are online you are at the mercy of m$.
If I had the chance to do it again, I would avoid going online with a disc in the tray (backup or retail) and just stick to playing XBLA games like Battlefield 1942 and Marvel vs Capcom 2 for a couple of weeks (surely m$ can't run their response checks without a disc in the drive?)

Alright guys we the staff are all getting tired of this thread. Klutsh has summed up the reason in the quote.
Klutsh wrote:Ok, this has got to stop.
It is ALL 100% speculation on your part.
Do you have diagnostic hardware hooked up to monitor all the 360's Bus information? No? Didn't think so.
Unless you can back-up your claims with 100% hard solid proof, stop all the guessing.
99.9% of you will be wrong anyhow.
Here are the current fact's in the chase for the cause:
There is no point keeping your currently unbanned console off live to avoid being banned, the ban happens if your connected or not.
The ONLY commonality between all banned consoles is that they have a modified firmware flashed to the consoles DVD-Drive.
The point I'm making is you got banned because YOU chose to run a modified console!
If you are banned from live and claim you are not running modified firmware, check to make sure it is a console ban and not a Gamer Tag ban.
All ban talk is to be done in the outhouse. Any news we get will be posted in the front page news section.
This thread will be locked since it is essentially 200+ posts of unproven ban theorys.

completely get that but at the same time the console is still banned, that's all i'm saying. just making it clear that this option is not a remedy for being banned.
