Re: lite-on.......It could be looking up.....

Re: lite-on.......It could be looking up.....

Re: lite-on.......It could be looking up.....
that looks like the port where i plug in my monitor ? lol
so anyway ultimately there will be a ixtreme for the liteon right ?
or wil there only be this ? just so we can get the key an then swap in a benq or sammy.
i hope it gets it's own ixtreme too like all the other drives.

Re: lite-on.......It could be looking up.....
im sure it will man.
that will just take some time to get the firmware wrote.
Its my understanding its a form of benq firmware
so maybe it wont take to long to port it over to the lite-on.

Re: lite-on.......It could be looking up.....
right thanks again for pointing out where my com 1 port is on my motherboard when i get the things i need what cable do i need to connect it to my computer
Re: lite-on.......It could be looking up.....
That would depend on the card you get. I've been seeing some that plug straight into the serial port. Others require a serial cable for the connection. Make sure that when you spot a card that your interested in to ask and make sure about the connection. Some look like they straight into the port, but actually require a cable so it's best to find out before plugging it in and maybe killing the card.

well doesn't this suck, seems my newer pc doesn't have a serial or com port in the back, but my old ones (one of which is dead) they do.
could a really old pc do this ? probably not lol.
but so which port is used ? the serial ? the 9 pin one, or the com port ? like where u use to plug in a printer i think lol. that ones big.

9pin is serial & is coms // the printer port is LPT (parallel)Digital Menace wrote:well doesn't this suck, seems my newer pc doesn't have a serial or com port in the back, but my old ones (one of which is dead) they do.

there's ways of converting, u can even convert usb to serial ~ but this needs to be run in dos so it's not driver based - can't believe com port have been dropped! very strange
just throw an old box together.. will cost you peanuts

yes it could - it just needs a serial/com portDigital Menace wrote:so an old pc couldn't do this ?

if it's 10years old & has no serial port that is very strange!

yeah man i meant my old pc's do have both serial & com ports. but my newer one of those is dead lol.
where as my newest one doesn't have either port.
anyway thanks man, i suppose the really old one would work then ?
and you use the com port for this process ? and you also need some rs adapter ?
i'm just curious about this, i probably won't be attempting it anytime soon though.

yep, the serial/com port will allow you to connect & dump the keyDigital Menace wrote:yeah man i meant my old pc's do have both serial & com ports. but my newer one of those is dead lol.

you need the RS232 interface (adapter) aswell to push it up the com port .. alittle bit of wiring & a touch of soldering (nothing heavy) to bridge the available but currently unlinked TxD & RxD connections on the drives mainboard

not sure who here is going to do it 1st because some of us are lacking the funds to purchase a unit just to flash & nothing else... I have all the equipment to pull it off just no drive. I think cofree has something in the works.
whichever way - you can bet whoever does it will take some pics & share details

I don't know for certain but I imagine it will not be too long before the extreme firmware follows either // so spoof option might not even be necessary

you can bet its under way.MsK wrote:I don't know for certain but I imagine it will not be too long before the extreme firmware follows either // so spoof option might not even be necessary
