you're not confusing me - you're confusing youself
MsK wrote:joshtbuff wrote:Ah. So i need a second dvd drive. I actually have a BenQ that I dont have the key to. so it is useless. I dont think I am following completely.
no.. the drive key can be changed -
the drive key must match the console key to work
so - basicly what you need to do is extract the key from the lite-on drive & inject it into the BenQ & apply a little spoof to fake Benq as a Lite-On.. then it will work

You need to extract the key from the lite-on drive & the inject that key into the BenQ drive // apply the lite-on spoof also to fake the benQ as a lite-on & flash it... then place the BenQ Drive in the Lite-On console
The lite-on drive will be removed and become spare // "or" possibly usable again after 1.5 is released (I emphasize the word
possibly)

Hi Question for you all. I have played most of the pre-release games but off line. Now I want to go back on line and I was wondering if i format my hard drive then went on line would that help me out or not? Would I still get ban if I dont play those games? I now have the orginals.

there is again a risk while going online. most of the bans are from bad rip. if you are using the originals to play online then you are safe as much as you can be but there is no telling whether you get banned or not.

as far as i'm aware bad rip data is not stored on the HD - it's stored on the console itself "NAND"// something about secdata.bin but I would have to check that to confirm...
if the discs are ripped & stealthed properly there shouldn't be a problem - if they are not then the console already knows & will send that data next time it gets online regardless of wether the hard drive used to store saves & achievements is present or not
I just want to make this point perfectly clear:-
if you break xbl terms of service you should be prepared to accept the consequences... by downloading games you have pushed things to the absolute limit !!! we don't want to get into a situation here where we condone or support this behaviour! our priority support leans solely towards legitimate backups of owned originals.

MsK is correct. It is secdata.bin on the nand flash that stores the logs. Un-accessable to to anyone that doesn't sport an infectus and access to their system by such. Oh and don't forget you have to have a vulnerable kernel as well.

How does Microsoft read the imprint of YOUR console's unique information when they ban you?
When you access Live, where does Microsoft send a check on your console? Is the serial number imprinted within the hardware? How do they ban just your specific console -- by serial?
Is this true across the boards for todays consoles (Wii, PS3)?

Well yes but how is it read? From the motherboard I'm guessing?

W: 0000-0000
X: 8000-0011
Y: 0000-0000
Z: 0000-0000

ok the error status report has changed to
W:0000-000B
X:0000-F001
Y-00A8-6820
Z-8015-190D
which means it is banned, just wierd how it was different for a while. Is there anyway of appealing bans or the like?

I'm afraid not. Once they ban your console, it's banned. They won't listen to anything after that.
