Have a look at my product review for the CK3 pro. The fourth picture down shows how it's supposed to be connected up if your using windows. If your going to be using DOS to get your key, identify and inquiry files, you won't need to use the USB cable, but an RS232 cable instead. There is only one place for the RS232 cable to plug into so you can't go wrong there.

The probe is totally optional. There are three other ways of doing what the probe does. First, make your own probe. If your interested in that, I can hook you up with a link to show you how. The second method is to actually bridge the spot where R707 is with a touch of solder, or use a solder pen to complete the connection. The third method is a method I've used before and thats using a small flat head jewelers screw driver to bridge the connection on R707.
Now if soldering or cutting into the wiring on a new CK3 isn't your thing, then I would recommend the probe. I would for sure recommend it over using a jewelers screw driver because bridging the wrong thing could cause some unwanted affects.

Mrc seemed to find a nice alternative with this
I haven't tried this myself as I have a probe, but if I would have known about this before, I don't think I would have bothered...

And if at first you don't succeed..? Order the damn card!

Mirc is a place to chat, post up on the site for help!!!
