MsK is correct. It is secdata.bin on the nand flash that stores the logs. Un-accessable to to anyone that doesn't sport an infectus and access to their system by such. Oh and don't forget you have to have a vulnerable kernel as well.

How does Microsoft read the imprint of YOUR console's unique information when they ban you?

When you access Live, where does Microsoft send a check on your console? Is the serial number imprinted within the hardware? How do they ban just your specific console -- by serial?

Is this true across the boards for todays consoles (Wii, PS3)?

Well yes but how is it read? From the motherboard I'm guessing?

W: 0000-0000
X: 8000-0011
Y: 0000-0000
Z: 0000-0000
ID: 0000-0003

ok the error status report has changed to

W:0000-000B
X:0000-F001
Y-00A8-6820
Z-8015-190D

which means it is banned, just wierd how it was different for a while. Is there anyway of appealing bans or the like?

I'm afraid not. Once they ban your console, it's banned. They won't listen to anything after that.

Gerry, any info on what may have gotten you banned would probably be helpful to others. Without breaking any of the sites rules on posting. Thanks.

we know what does/will get people banned.
The biggest reason is messing with (bad) p2p or downloading game. ;)
