if you are using the same drive then you can just dump the firmware from the old one and flash it in to the new one.

dben is for dumping the benQ drive! it's dsam... for the samsung
***I suspect just a typo...***

I would dump the new drives firmware 1st - if the rsam to the new drive fails (i shouldn't but just incase..) you can use firmware toolbox to modify the new dump with the original key then rsam it to the drive ;)

i mean dsam not dben but what i will do is dump the firmware from old drive. dump the firmware from the new drive, if it has one and then do what you told me. i will post the results soon.
thanks

If you had two samsungs and wanted to swap one for the other, you would need to dump both drives, making sure that you can tell which dump is from what drive, take the hacked firmware that iprep gives you, open the one that you want to replace with firmware toolbox and copy they drive key. Then open the one that you want to use and paste and replace the key with firmware toolbox. You won't need to do any spoofing or anything since they are the same drives. Then just take your hacked firmware that you changed the key on and put it into your iprep folder and then flash it with the fsam 1234567 12345 command.

The key to this being successful would be making sure to keep track of which firmware is for which drive. But it's like MsK said.

yep.. i'm with sadalius here -
In the case of replacement drives I modify the new dump with the original key via firmware toolbox.

I don't straight overwrite the drive with another drives firmware..
I do not dispute it can be done this way, it's just not my preffered method.

----
Also... I don't want to confuse matters but It's worth mentioning that you do not have to use numbers for your dumps you can use letters also.
& DOS has an 8 character limit ..

so, for example -
  • you could dump your original drive as : dsam 1234567 12345_og
"og" used as an indicater to represent your "original" drives firmware

& dump your second drive as : dsam 1234567 12345_nw
"nw" used as an indicater to represent your "new" drives firmware
or something to that effect..

For me this helps with remembering which dump is which since they are clearly tagged ;)

Then you can apply the key to either the hacked firmware or the original - "whichever way you want to go - depending on if you want ixtreme or not" - & flash with either fsam or rsam..
^depending on your choice as outlined above.

Thats a good point MsK. I didn't even know you could do that with iprep. So I guess you can teach and old dog new tricks!! :D

the best thing is to use textbooks guide.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =110&t=662

with the v78 the only way to get it in mode B is with the slax disc.
