Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
You're on the right path...
Try entering your COM port into the box manually. JF reports as finding COM ports for me, but won't display them in DVDKEY32.
If you're using a serial lead, it might be worth trying iprep. You might have to boot into DOS to erase anyway (JF/windows has a problem doing the erase with VIA cards).
There's a few programs you can try and get the key with, but have a good go with jf before you try anything else...

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
I found what the prob was, Im using Windows Vista, and my COM port does not show up for some reason, I went into XP and everything was there, I was even able to get the key.bin, inquiry.bin, dummy.bin and identify.bin files. The Key looks good and everything. I didn't have ixtreme1.5 on that HD so i had to shut down and copy the file on my flash drive. I'm yet to flash it tho so i dnt know if it works or not, but good so far.
Will post after i try the flash.
Thx

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
Hey I have a question tho, wen i open the drive and shut down the xbox the drive closes as well, what i did tho was unplug the power cable from the drive and close the tray half way. What i notice tho is that even tho the drive is half open when i turn the xbox off the drive closes. The quest that i really have is at the section where i'm to put the drive in vendor mode, it requires the xbox to be turned off then on, what will happen if the drive get closed? during the erasing process?
Is it because the rs232 device is being powered from the drive?
Thx

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
Do you have a CK3?
If you're using the 360 as power, this is normal ( you have to remove one of the cables to stop it doing this).
I don't think the drive has to half open/closed for the flash, I'm not sure bout that though...

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
i'm using a home made rs232 adapter, it is being powered by the drive. So you think the drive being closed shouldn't cause a prob? Is there anyone who has this info??

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
yep
this is hard to do
but i think its your only option.
If using a 360 to power the drive this method can be tricky to accomplish.
You need to power on the drive with Eject status closed but Tray Half Open –To do this using
an Xbox 360 as Power source, eject the DVD drive, then, press eject to ‘close’ the tray. Now this
is the important part –you MUST remove the DVD power plug from the DVD Drive BEFORE it
closes fully.
Wait for a few seconds and replace the power plug into the DVD drive taking extreme caution
to plug the plug the right way around –once done, the drive is now powered, console thinks its
closed but it is in fact half open.

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
If you have your key and the other files (check they're right by dumping them again) the rs232's work is done. It's only used to sniff the key out, the rest is all done by sata

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
Ok, i'll try that. Give me couple minutes. What i had done originally was to open the tray then unplug the power source from the drive then close it half way then plug up again. So basically the eject button has to be pressed in order to trick the xbox that its closed. I got you!!

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
hey guys i did the eject then unplug. Went into jungle flasher 0.0.26 Beta then MTK Flash 32 and selected Device ID it then told me that i have to power down and up for it to go it to go in vendor mode, after hitting yes and powered down the tray closes. Got a error msg saying that the Re-sending Vendor Intro ------- Device Intro failed! Do you think because the rs232 is still connected to the drive? I had done this process before on a benq and the tray was left half opened after rebooting. Or is it because I used Device ID instead of Lite-On-Erase?
Right now i'm trying to push eject on the xbox and the tray is not coming out......
Thx

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
Ok guys, I have Successfully Flashed my own Xbox 360 with lite-on drive. My rs232 Adapter works, the problem that caused the drive to close when i power down is due to adapter being connected to it. What i had to do was put the tray half way then cut off the voltage and grounds. Restarted and it did not close the tray. What i'll be doing for the future is adding a power switch to the rs232 adapter, so when i need to half close i would shut the adapter off. By the way does anyone know if the rs232 adapter can be run off batteries or it has to be connected to the voltage and ground points of the drive?
Man thanks to all who help me with this project from the RS232 Adapter to the knowledge gathered to flash my own xbox 360. I done others, benq, hitachi for other ppl but never could do mine. This feeling is actually better than the others i've experienced.
Thx

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
Yeah I have, and its finally done now. Thanks to all you guys. who help without you guys it wouldn't be possible.
One question tho, the Rs232 device, i had it powered by the 360's dvd drive, do you think i could use a battery kit(home made) with an on/off switch and just have the probe inserted for the .bin files? Do you think it would work the same without have the Rs232 voltage and ground wires connected? Hey I heard that the RS232 to ttl converter can program a Satalite dish is that true?
Thx

Re: Hey Guys I'm looking to flash my 360 today!!
it practically took you 2 months anyway, you could of got the CK3. . . when you said you lived in jamaica i was like i don't know how hes going to pull this off (no offense) but you took your time and you made your own parts and all that and you did it. so thats what's up kid! good stuff. . .360fifa wrote:Thx Cofree, is there a tut for bilding the max32? I would prefer to do it, i cant wait for 2 mnts. And my bro is very good at soldering. I'll just explain what he needs to solder. Is it the same procedure with other 360 drives or just the lite-on? Cuz I have a friend who as a 360 and he wants to know if its the same process, i'm yet to check the drive tho.
